Job Title Program Director of Academic Processes, Assessment, and Accreditation (APAA) Agency Tarleton State University Department School of Nursing Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location Stephenville, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description Reporting directly to the School of Nursing (SON) (http://www.tarleton.edu/nursing/) Dean, the Academic Processes, Assessment, and Accreditation Program Director (APAA) promotes a culture of student success and assessment by working closely with faculty, dean/s, program directors, staff and students to systematically define and assess student learning outcomes at the program and course levels, which support the accreditation process and the Texas Board of Nursing requirements. This includes, but is not limited to, generating assessment and evaluation calendars/master list, data entry, organizing and implementing processes related to record retention (e.g., data and report downloads and storage) and distribution (e.g., reports to appropriate stakeholders, according to SON standards, Tarleton, and TAMU policies). Using appropriate programs to perform analysis, this position will work closely with College of Health Sciences (COHS) (http://www.tarleton.edu/chs/) and University Institutional Data and Analytics to monitor and assess student and faculty effectiveness. As a key role, the APAA Program Director works collaboratively with the Academic Program Coordinator I (APC) in the development, implementation, and evaluation of processes used to facilitate SON student processes from admission selection through graduation and licensure/certification achievement. Use of technology and data platforms are emphasized. The APAA Program Director is highly organized in coordinating the complexities of academic processes, assessment and evaluation, demonstrates enthusiasm, actively participates in problem-solving, and must be comfortable managing ambiguity and multiple priorities. The APAA Program Director will oversee/supervise the Clinical Placement Coordinator, the Academic Program Coordinator, and 1-3 graduate and/or undergraduate student workers. This is a full-time 12-month staff position located on the Stephenville Campus. May be required to work with other campuses or online at the institution’s discretion. Remote/Hybrid work options may be available for successful finalist. Work hours are Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM or as work requirements indicate, which may include after-hours, evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Requires ability to work remotely at the request of the University in times of inclement weather or other special circumstances. Essential Duties/Tasks/Responsibilities (20%) Academic Processes Coordination + Works with Academic Program Coordinator, SON Faculty Assembly, and Dean to develop, implement, and evaluate student admission, progress, and retention processes for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs with concentrations as appropriate. + Works with APC to more fully use technology to support effective student admission, progression, and retention tracking academic processes. + Coordinates SON use of national testing platforms and board review resources to support student success + Supports faculty by monitoring or proctoring test administration as necessary + Schedules onsite board review sessions with external organizations as appropriate + Ensures security and confidentiality of assessment materials and performance records + Coordinates the administration of HESI (or similar type assessment platforms) and other national board prep simulations (e.g. Hurst) + Supports faculty in accessing and posting appropriate assessment related materials in the software platform related to SON courses + Collects and reports on assessment outcomes (didactic and clinical) to Dean and Faculty Assembly as outlined in SON’s Total Program Evaluation Plan + Oversees the work of the Clinical Placement Coordinator to secure and maintain the clinical placements for students enrolled in the prelicensure and graduate nursing programs. + Creates strong working relationships with the clinical placement partners. + Oversees the coordination and management of student clinical placements for the SON. (40%) Assessment + Collaborates and participates in the continuous program improvement process by: creating and maintaining data collection repository, mapping assessment outcomes to program outcomes, and developing and contributing to assessment/testing best practices. + Creates statistical reports to monitor student outcomes for all programs. + Forecasts assessment needs of the SON and develops appropriate methods for collecting data for future evaluations. + Works collaboratively with COHS Director of Assessment and Accreditation and SON Dean/Assistant Dean(s) to develop models to identify factors that most significantly influence student outcomes to inform programmatic decision making. + Interprets assessment findings and prepares assessment reports, with particular emphasis on the quality of the assessment efforts and findings that influence programmatic decision-making. + Designs and conducts periodic faculty workshops on academic assessment and educational effectiveness topics (learning outcomes, annual and 5-year program reviews, formative and summative assessment methods, design, and use of rubrics). (30%) Accreditation + Coordinates assessment, outcomes, and accreditation activities needed for Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Texas Board of Nursing compliance purposes (e.g., NEPIS and CANEP), and other nursing accreditation organizations as needed. + Participates in collecting and analyzing assessment data to support accreditation and program reviews, including faculty evaluation and disseminating results associated with the SON’s Total Program Evaluation Plan. (10%) Staff/Student Employee Supervision + Supervises hiring, work, and evaluation of 1-3 undergraduate/graduate students in the Academic Processes, Assessment, and Accreditation unit. + Directs, supervises and evaluates the activities of the APC I and Clinical Placement Coordinator. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: + Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience + Ten (10) years of related experience + Demonstrated database experience-handling large volumes of data + Demonstrated experience managing spreadsheets and preparing and disseminating reports Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Keen attention to detail and sound judgement + Ability to maintain discretion with respect to confidential information (e.g., FERPA & HIPAA) + Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. + Effective verbal and written communication skills. + Strong public speaking, organizational, leadership, and supervisory skills. + Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Preferred Requirements: + Higher Education and/or health care education experience preferred. + Supervisory experience in higher education preferred. Salary Commensurate with experience Salary Range The target base annual salary range is $80,370 to $114,131 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
