Program Director of Nursing - Mother Cabrini Grant - Full Time
$140,000/ annual salary Summary: The Program Director of Nursing Excellence, under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), is responsible for overseeing and managing the nursing excellence designations. The Program Director of Nursing Excellence serves as a strategic leader responsible for advancing nursing practice, professional development, and clinical excellence across the organization. Experience: Minimum 5 years of Nursing experience; Minimum 2 years leadership experience required. Education and Licenses: + Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State and/or Pennsylvania. + Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required; master’s degree in nursing or related field preferred. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: The Program Director of Nursing Excellence is charged with and responsible for: 1. Strategic Leadership • Develop and execute a comprehensive nursing excellence strategy aligned with organizational goals. • Lead the organization's efforts to achieve and maintain designation or other nursing excellence recognitions. • Serve as a subject matter expert on nursing standards, evidence-based practice, and professional development. 2. Nursing Practice and Professional Development • Oversee the development and implementation of programs that advance nursing education, certification, and leadership skills. • Foster a culture of shared governance and nursing autonomy to empower nurses at all levels. • Collaborate with nurse educators and leaders to identify and address professional development needs. 3. Quality and Patient Outcomes • Monitor and analyze nursing quality indicators and patient outcome metrics, implementing strategies for continuous improvement. • Lead performance improvement initiatives to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. • Promote the use of evidence-based practice and research to enhance clinical outcomes. 4. Accreditation Standards • Guide the organization through the applicable program designation process, including document preparation, submission, and survey readiness. • Conduct regular gap analyses to identify areas for improvement in alignment with program standards. • Serve as the primary liaison with the applicable program and other accrediting bodies. 5. Collaboration and Interdisciplinary Leadership • Partner with executive leadership, department heads, and interdisciplinary teams to align nursing excellence initiatives with organizational priorities. • Represent nursing in organizational decision-making and strategic planning forums. • Facilitate collaboration between nursing staff and other departments to improve care delivery and operational efficiency. 6. Staff Engagement and Education • Develop initiatives to enhance staff satisfaction, retention, and engagement, including recognition programs and professional growth opportunities. • Address workforce challenges by implementing evidence-based strategies to improve recruitment and retention of nursing talent. • Act as a mentor and resource for nursing leaders and staff. • Plans programs and in-services to continually educate all employees along the ANCC Pathway to Excellence & Magnet Journey. Assists in the development and delivery of ANCC program-related education. • Mentors staff nurses to support their role as educators about the Magnet process and serves as an educational resource to the nursing community. • Participates in projects that enhance nursing excellence and professional development. 7. Data Management and Reporting • Prepare reports for leadership and accreditation bodies highlighting achievements in nursing excellence. • Use data to drive decision-making and prioritize nursing initiatives. 8. Innovation and Research • Promote and support nursing research initiatives, ensuring integration into practice where applicable. • Introduce innovative practices and technologies to enhance nursing care delivery and professional practice. • Stay informed of trends in healthcare and nursing to ensure the organization remains a leader in nursing excellence. 9. Regulatory Compliance • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements related to nursing practice and patient care. • Develop policies and procedures to support nursing excellence and accreditation standards. 10. Budget and Resource Management • Manage budgets for nursing excellence programs and initiatives. • Advocate for resources and investments that support nursing practice and quality improvement.
