The Program Launch Engineer will lead the planning and successful execution of program and equipment launches. This will require proficiency in program management fundamentals as well as the ability to lead cross-functional teams comprised of finance, purchasing, engineering, production, quality, sales, and human resources representatives.

Lead assigned programs from the project screening/quoting state through launch, steady state production and through end of life, serving as the single point of contact.Cover the full scope of program management including but not limited to:Thorough understanding, documentation, and attainment of both customer and MEC requirements for quality, capacity, timing, and product characteristicsTranslation of the requirements into a clear plan with a robust task breakdown, assigned owners, budgets, and timing of tasks and major milestonesMaintain the timeline and plan throughout the projectCoordinate regular communication with the program teamEnsure resources are effectively planned and committed including labor (direct and indirect), floor space, equipment, and toolingIdentify and manage key risksProactively escalate any issues or roadblocksAdherence to MEC’s APQP and requirements guidelinesProvide regular status reviews to managementManage customer communications (meetings, reports, etc.) for the programEnsure that any suppliers are identified and committed to support the program requirementsMonitor progress of supplies of equipment and production parts to ensure on-time delivery and correct PPAP documentation.Initiate and obtain approval of Major Expenditure Authorizations (MEAs) for program related equipment and tooling.Ensure compliance with TS16949, IATF, MEC’s APQP process, and other applicable procedures and policies including completion of gate approvals.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar combination of experience and education.Five to Seven years of related experience in manufacturing environment or combination of the education and experience.Excellent computer skills including experience with all Microsoft Office products.Program management or project management introduction experience (PMP certification preferred).Working knowledge and application of TA tools (BOS, 8D, Lean, Six Sigma, EVA, TVM).Ability to lead and function in a team environment, while effectively communicating across various levels of the organization.Ability to write concise reposts and present information to management and customer groups.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.Work with little direction (other than standard procedures).Demonstrate a dedication to achieving results and be able to sustain high drive and energy levels under sometimes intense working conditions.Effective in directing and guiding others toward task accomplishment.Knowledge of tubular steel manufacturing and fabrication processes.
