Program Manager, Anesthesia

Job Summary:
The Program Manager supports the overall day to-day administrative activities of the Anesthesia Service; and establishes and maintains an effective operating environment which assures effective, efficient, and safe operations that respond to patient, provider, and staff needs.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities: 

Oversees the Anesthesia Program, to include day to day operations at Mary Washington and Stafford hospitals. Collaborates with medical director and clinical leads to discuss operations and resolve issues.Serves as a liaison between Anesthesia Services and other clinical and administrative components of the hospitals and system partners.Manages department budgets, completes budget analysis to review for discrepancies, and identifies areas for improvement.Monitors department productivity, evaluates department staffing, and provides input for proformas. Reports on operational department metrics.Monitors clinical information system proficiency of staff and providers. Facilitates educational opportunities to maximize efficiency in partnership with clinical dyads.Ensures that established policies and procedures are being consistently followed, and reports issues and concerns to appropriate personnel.Serves as a training resource for support staff.Manages recruitment for physicians, APPs, and staff.Initiates provider onboarding, offboarding, credentialing, and reappointments.Partners with clinical leadership for administrative management of APPs.Acts as liaison between physicians, providers, and office employees to resolve conflicts and to promote cohesiveness in operations.Reviews and approves physician and APP shift time sheets for payment.Coordinates the purchase of medical/office supplies and other equipment necessary.Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required.Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or a closely related field preferred.Minimum of two years experience in a medical practice, hospital, or other health care setting with demonstrated leadership experience required.
