Program Manager, Digital Enterprise
Overview This job contributes to REI’s success by being the leader accountable for the planning, development, management, execution and implementation of the large cross-divisional and multi-year program of Digital Commerce Foundation Implementations, starting with the overall Target State Architecture and the supporting platforms – Customer, Content, Product, and Commerce. This program entails significant technological and business process transformation for the co-op and is a critical foundational enabler for both the co-op’s ongoing operations as well as its planned strategic initiatives. This role is primarily responsible for ensuring the program delivers the agreed upon business benefits and acts as the representative of the business organization, playing a vital leadership role. Models and acts in accordance with REI’s guiding values and mission. Responsibilities and Qualifications Provides business context, expertise and guidance to the technology program manager and program/project teams Champions the project cross-functionally to ensure capacity, funding and prioritization for the project Acts as an escalation point for decisions and issues that are beyond the authority of the program manager Acts as the link between the program, the business community, and strategic level decision making groups Vision Ensures the validity of the business case by clearly defining and managing scope, confirming the viability of the business proposition Ensures ongoing alignment to business objectives Regularly engages with the project team and other key stakeholders to stay informed of trends and events within the program (and ensure the project remains viable) Defines project success criteria that align with the business objectives Develops Program Charter Governance Prioritizes the initiative and ensure it is launched and initiated properly Partners closely with initiative program manager to review and manage program budget Serves as a voice for the program and ensures appropriate organizational priority is given to it throughout Assembles and provides on-going support for the program organization Identifies roles and reporting structure; leads and supports hiring efforts as necessary to build appropriate support levels Serves as an escalation point for issues and other matters and obstacles that are beyond the control of the project manager Provides business case analysis/ROI review sufficient to facilitate go/no go decisions regarding progress and phases Value and Benefits Ensures risks and changes are managed properly and sufficiently and makes associated decisions including resource reallocation, prioritization and scope modifications Establishes control mechanisms and reviews; ensures measures are operating sufficiently to provide clear communication and early detection of program delays Ensures the program delivers the intended value through establishment and management of OKRs and corresponding metrics Evaluates progress and status addressing roadblocks and resource constraints as needed Champions the project throughout the entire org Provides research and context sufficient to facilitate go/no go decisions Is responsible for the overall quality, value, and benefits for the program, from process to the end product Reviews and guides change management planning, ensures change management is sufficiently prioritized to facilitate program success Required Skills and Experience 10+ years of relevant and progressive Digital Commerce and re-platforming experience, with a preference for a background including retail or similar industry experience 3+ years of previous technology leadership or technology consulting experience in a mid to large corporate environment B.S. degree in computer science or similar, MBA a plus Process improvement mindset, prior experience driving change and business transformation Consistently think and act broadly and strategically Ability to develop and communicate strategic roadmaps and translate them into executable plans Ability to drive decision making based on key outcomes and business capability delivery Strong financial and business acumen, including experience developing and delivery complex business cases Demonstrated effective leadership and motivational skills Ability to successfully negotiate with partners/leaders and positively navigate opposing points of view Demonstrated ability to communicate and deliver effective presentations to senior leaders and groups of varying sizes, including small stakeholder groups up to large divisional meetings Strong and current understanding of Commerce Technology systems and trends Experience leading cross-functional teams Strong interpersonal skills – able to communicate with all areas of REI and influence others in a collaborative work environment Actively participates and collaborates with others on one's own team and across REI for the achievement of program goals Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of program/business opportunities Creates a strong, mutually supportive work spirit and culture where people can do their best Establishes trust and inspires others Makes effective organization and people decisions in a manner consistent with REI's values and ethics Delivers on commitments and holds others to same Champions the organization and advocates solutions in the overall Company's best interest with clear understanding of tradeoffs Consolidates information from various sources including feedback from others to reach sound and prompt decisions Considers the ultimate impact of decisions and actions on internal and external customers Pay Range $125,300.00 - $212,900.00 per year
