Grocery Fulfillment team is looking for a talented Program Manager with a strong delivery record and proven project management experience to own strategic, tactical, and cross-functional programs. The ideal candidate for this role is excited about the opportunity to make customer-facing changes and drive cost improvements for the business, having deep relationship with both oversea and domestic stakeholders. This role require scoping and creating project plans, developing processes, coordinating and driving execution, and communicating to senior management on status, risks and process/product changes. Cross-team coordination, project management and executive presentation skills are essential.
A highly analytical candidate with program/project management or grocery operations experience is an ideal fit, as this role will require partnership with multiple teams (Tech, Operations, Analytics, Finance, Workforce Planning, Delivery, Engineering/Facility, HR and other teams) to lead, influence, and support business critical projects and initiatives. Robust understanding of fulfillment operations including order fulfillment, inventory flows, constrained warehouse assets (capacity and labor), quality, and long term roadmaps will help develop new innovations within complex ultra-fast operations.
The Program Manager interacts with senior-level audiences to provide updates and make strategic recommendations that will achieve the long-term vision for optimal balance between business need and operator experience. Documentation of requirements, project management, and cross-team coordination skills are essential.
Multi-language communication skill is mandatory required both in English for oversea stakeholders and in Japanese for JP Operations and a part of Business members.
The position is located in Tokyo, Japan and works from either Corp Office (Meguro, Tokyo) or Grocery Fulfillment Centers (Kanagawa, Tokyo).
Key job responsibilities
- Designing and modeling new operations processes for developing business needs to prove quality, cost, and scalability goals as critical outputs.
- Gathering and analyzing data across order fulfillment functions to establish global standards for operations in partnership with cross functional teams.
- Building strong partnership with operations field leaders to understand improvement opportunities as well as CEU/UK&NA team to drive benchmarking study and standardization.
- Analyzing and solving operational barriers with a focus on understanding root causes and driving forward solves.
- Leading project teams to plan, organize, and execute complex projects across multiple organizations and stakeholders to enable the launch of new projects and processes.
- Innovating to improve customer experience and continuously remove cost from our fulfillment network.
- Designing new metrics and enhancing existing metrics to support the future state of the business.
About the team
Grocery Fulfillment (GF) team, Amazon Grocery Logistics (AGL), Japan is responsible for in-warehouse operations for Amazon Fresh, which has launched since 2017 in Japan and provides an ultra-fast scheduled delivery service to Kanto region (a part of Tokyo, Kanawaga, Chiba, Saitama prefecture) of Japan as of 2025. JP GF is belonging directly to International (CEU/UK+JP) AGL Ops pillar. The GF team contains of three functional sub-pillars: 1) Under-the-Roof (UTR) Operations, 2) Supply Chain Management (SC) for capacity management with IB flow optimization and 3) Program Management across operation process, quality, labor planning and Tech enhancement. Key responsibility is to make better customer grocery shipping experiences within high quality standard and cost-to-serve operation processes/environments.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of program or project management experience
- 3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
- 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
- Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
- Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- Speak, write, and read fluently in Japanese
- Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
- 3+ years of driving process improvements experience
- Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
- Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
