Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
We are seeking a highly skilled technical leader to tackle chronic issues, navigate technological challenges, and drive transformative improvements in cost, quality, and capacity. This role focuses on advancing process technology, developing innovative solutions, and serving as the technology gatekeeper to ensure consistency and best practices across our division. Additionally, you will act as the Data Team Lead for quality/OFC projects, designing, building, testing, and deploying new systems to meet our strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Solve complex technical problems and implement impactful solutions. Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers. Lead cross-functional project teams to execute large, high-impact technical initiatives and motivate teams in the use of statistical tools. Deliver robust, scalable processes and technologies to meet organizational goals. Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for Quality / IT / data systems and contributor to technical strategy development. Lead interaction decisions for Quality and SAP as it relates to quality systems and metrics. Maintain and enhance quality systems, including ETQ and SAP interactions. Drive continuous process simplification and efficiency improvements. Provide leadership for special projects, including quality system start-ups, audits, system migrations and creating system linkages to division. Quality program leader and maintenance for Process Capability Reporting using tools- Data Bricks, Kairos, Python, PowerBi, Spec Editor App, and beta risk cert tables. Identify opportunities and lead efforts for process simplification, i.e. step removal.
Special Initiatives
Establish centralized quality dashboards and enhanced reporting systems. Create linked reports analyzing fiber and cable data together Improve Early-Stage Manufacturing (ESM) systems. Lead global quality system implementation across worldwide locations. Lead/advocate implementation of Layered Process Audits across multiple Plant Locations (NCP/TCP/CO/WL) and later for other OFC sites
Additional Skills
Demonstrated strong Project Management Leadership Fiber/Cable Data knowledge Data Design/Architecture and System knowledge: Data connections and Data Bricks. Understanding of PCPD principles and ability to coach others. Proven problem-solving expertise, using tools like DOE and statistical analysis. Ability to influence Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Cross-cultural sensitivity and effective teamwork. A self-starter with the ability to manage uncertainty and change confidently. Strong multitasking and organizational abilities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Science. 5+ years of industry experience. Demonstrated success in solving complex manufacturing issues. Experience leading IT system projects with measurable impact. Expertise in quality management systems, ETQ development, and data design. Proficiency with statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab) and modern platforms (e.g., Power Apps, SharePoint, MES, COMET).
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Engineering or Applied Science. Green Belt or Black Belt certification. Plant operations experience and familiarity with global project implementations. Experience across multiple divisions, functions Global experience Gensuite system

The range for this position is $116,625.00 - $160,360.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
