Program Manager, Safety Assurance

**About the Role**
The Program Manager, Safety Assurance will play a critical role within Uber’s broader Safety Management System (SMS) program, focused on improving platform safety through incident investigations and audits. This role is responsible for identifying and closing gaps in our safety systems and processes to provide leadership with confidence that Uber’s safety ecosystem is best-in-class, audit-ready, and continuously improving. The impact of this work will directly support Uber’s strategic goal of advancing a strong safety culture across the company.
**What the Candidate Will Do**
- Conduct audits of Uber's safety features and processes to evaluate compliance with internal and external safety requirements
- Investigate safety incidents or product issues to identify root causes, trends, and broader systemic improvements
- Serve as a subject-matter expert and coach to other teams, improving incident investigation quality through reviews and methodological audits
- Surface key insights from audits and investigations to inform safety planning and product roadmaps
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful remediation of issues and support the continuous maturation of the SMS program
**Basic Qualifications**
- 4+ years overall experience in Program Management
- Bachelors Degree
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Prior experience with SMS frameworks, especially in regulated industries such as aviation, automotive, government, or tech
- Background in safety, compliance, data science, or engineering
- Ability to dive deep into product and incident details while communicating broader insights and implications to leadership
- Strong analytical and risk management skills, with experience in governance, risk, and compliance (GRC)
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive long-term, complex programs to maturity
- Experience working in large organizations with complex stakeholder networks
- Familiarity with conducting assurance reviews, safety audits, or operational risk assessments
- Demonstrated commitment to improving safety outcomes, with strong program management capabilities to drive ownership and resolution of identified issues
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$129,000 per year - USD$143,000 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$129,000 per year - USD$143,000 per year.
For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
