We are seeking a seasoned data governance expert to lead the strategic implementation of Netflix's first Talent Data Governance Program. In this role, you will craft and execute a vision that enhances our management and use of talent data, establishing mechanisms that ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance. Your iterative approach will allow for continuous refinement of data governance practices, ensuring they align with evolving business needs and support Netflix’s culture of prioritizing people over process. Successful candidates will possess a deep understanding of data governance best practices and a proven track record of driving impactful data initiatives. You will collaborate with technical teams to build the necessary infrastructure while establishing trust with senior talent leadership and fostering a culture of data ownership and stewardship. Your ability to influence across all levels will be crucial in transforming our talent data landscape and aligning with our strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
Lead the strategic implementation and ongoing refinement of our Talent Data Governance Program, ensuring frameworks that uphold data quality, integrity, and compliance while adapting to evolving business needs
Collaborate with senior analysts and technical teams to build and configure the necessary infrastructure, manage the talent business glossary, and oversee processes for modifying or introducing data dimensions
Establish trust with senior talent leadership, advocating for data ownership and fostering a culture of data stewardship and accountability across the organization
Develop and enforce data standards and policies, provide strategic analytical support, and design training programs to enhance data literacy and self-service capabilities, empowering data-driven decision-making
Serve as a key liaison among cross-functional teams, facilitating communication, monitoring governance performance, and incorporating industry best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation in data management
Required Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in technical program management and working with metadata or data disciplines, systems, and projects
Domain experience with HR data management, including exposure to jobs and skills frameworks and Workday’s object model
Proven experience in establishing and managing data governance programs, with a deep understanding of metadata systems, core taxonomy administration, and data governance maturity model frameworks
Experience in designing and delivering training programs for data governance and analytics
Strong program management skills, demonstrated by effectively managing complex programs across diverse stakeholder groups
Domain experience with Talent data management, including exposure to jobs and skills frameworks and Workday’s object model
A data-driven approach to problem-solving and analysis, with a focus on optimization, quality assurance, and accountability for deliverables
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, extraordinary attention to detail, and strong judgment in executing deliverables and workflow design
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Workday and HR data management
Familiarity with SQL and business intelligence tools such as Tableau or PowerBI
Knowledge of advanced analytics and data security best practices
Experience driving partnerships for tooling and workflow implementation, including issue resolution and end-to-end analysis
Familiarity with Zendesk ticket system
This is a hybrid role working out of our LA or Los Gatos offices.
Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top-of-market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $80,000 - $280,000.
