Program Manager 1
Overview We are seeking a full-time Program Manager 1 in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for serving as a cross-functional program manager accountable for ensuring operational excellence and customer satisfaction in managing small-to-mid-size Garmin business programs. Essential Functions Champion operations internally and with our customers with a high level of professionalism Responsible for program execution with support from mentor/management and proactively drive cross-functional, global collaboration across organizations Learn/apply program management skills on programs to ensure communication of scope, milestones, risks and decisions and seek input from mentor/supervisor Support effective meetings to drive cross-functional, global team effort toward program success while identifying/resolving conflicts within team and escalates as necessary Learn and build relationships with key stakeholder groups such as Executive Sponsors, Program Steering Committee and Functional Teams, and communicates with them to ensure all parties are aware of project milestones, risks, changes and key deliverables Organize, plan and direct program schedules, budgets and risk mitigation action Manage the coordination and communication of changes with the customer and responsible for the flow down of contractual requirements Develop/implement program of continuous improvement throughout the program product life cycle to ensure cost, quality and customer satisfaction goals are defined/achieved Learn/utilize program management tools and standard processes for Garmin businesses Act as a point of escalation in the event of a customer/Garmin driven non-technical issue Review new programs to ensure that business requirements and capabilities are fully communicated, documented and approved by all key stakeholders Learn/develop a core understanding of all programs/projects across assigned segments Learn and demonstrate a working understanding of Garmin’s business operations and connectivity of departmental interdependencies Provide reliable solutions to a wide range of difficult problems using sound problem solving techniques Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Management, Operations, Supply Chain or related field AND a minimum of two years related program or project management experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Ability to lead a team to successfully execute projects small-to-midsize in scale or basic-to- moderate in complexity Basic understanding of production and operations issues as they relate to program management, including the ability to successfully identify and mitigate risks Must be detailed-oriented and possess the ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills as well as effective presentation, organizational and analytical skills Ability to bring together cross functional teams for effective problem resolution Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint) Desired Qualifications Master’s Degree in Engineering, Management, Operations, Supply Chain or related field Working knowledge of contract terms, conditions, mechanisms, and procedures Global program development and program management experience For Automotive OEM programs: Experience working in an automotive environment Experience working with embedded and/or mobile products Experience using DOORS Experience with CMMI or Automotive SPICE Experience working in APQP and IATF1649 environments For Aviation OEM programs: Relevant knowledge, experience and/or training in avionics systems, engineering, and/or aviation Experience working in AS9100 and AS94900 environments For Aviation Services programs: Strong working knowledge or experience with airline operations Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), specifically Part 121 operations FAA certified airman and/or aircraft dispatcher experience Experience working with project management software Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
