University IT leads multi-year programs to prepare the university for new technologies and support stakeholders over the course of widespread technology changes. The programs aim to ensure smooth and frictionless transitions by engaging with stakeholders across the university, understanding business needs and use cases, and mapping them to technology solutions. The programs involve collaboration with executive sponsors, campus advisory groups, user groups, and other stakeholders to optimize outcomes and achieve business goals.
The **Program Manager** role is an 18-month fixed term position reporting to the UIT IT Infrastructure Program Director. The incumbent will shape the future of some of Stanford’s most widely used technology platforms, and lead the change management efforts to ensure program success.
**Position Summary**
The primary role of this position is to develop and implement programs that achieve business goals and meet user needs.
Our ideal candidate is a strategic thinker who is comfortable leading change. They are also experienced in understanding business needs and use cases, and mapping them to technology solutions. They are experienced presenters, comfortable speaking to senior management and other large stakeholder groups, whether it’s imparting information or fielding questions on the fly.
**Core Responsibilities**
+ Partner with the project manager to develop key project artifacts such as charter and project plan
+ Lead the project team in prioritizing tasks and making strategic decisions.
+ Collaborate with executive sponsors to ensure program alignment with business objectives and obtain necessary approvals, including but not limited to:
+ Program strategy and direction
+ Program scope, objectives, risks, key decisions, schedule and budget
+ Issues that require sponsor intervention
+ Project resources
+ Collaborate with a Communications Specialist to develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan.
+ Ensure the project timeline meets business needs and communicate upcoming milestones with stakeholders as appropriate
+ Promote the program's goals and benefits to various stakeholders across the university.
+ Form and direct the activities of campus workgroups
+ Communicate program progress and updates to various stakeholder groups through regular meetings, presentations, and written reports.
+ Keep an open line of communication with relevant community members to provide feedback
+ Engage stakeholder groups and community leaders to learn about needs and validate requirements
**Education & Experience**
+ Bachelor's degree and five years of demonstrable experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Strong capabilities in the following: functional analysis, fit/gap analysis, requirements documentation and process flow charting, presentation of options and solutions facilitation, issues analysis and resolution, and business process improvement.
+ Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and methodologies.
+ Solid grasp of project management body of knowledge subject area.
+ Strong listening, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
+ Proven verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to work effectively with the entire suite of Microsoft Office products.
The expected pay range for this position is $135,873 – $156,339 per annum.
