As part of the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, the Precourt Institute for Energy concentrates the talents of the University on energy research and education, from basic science and technology to policy and business. We disseminate research results and help the University develop energy-literate leaders as part of its educational mission. We work across campus in all seven of Stanford’s schools.  We also build collaborations globally with industry, other research institutions, government, and civic organizations in pursuit of sustainable, affordable, secure energy for all people.

The Stanford Hydrogen Initiative is a collaboration of researchers at Stanford University in engineering, science, policy, and business, working with industry, thought leaders and governments to enable the use of hydrogen to achieve deep decarbonization of the world's energy systems. In addition to our research portfolio, we are building a community with workshops and symposia, and through an educational agenda. The Initiative focuses its work on the hydrogen value chain with regards to hydrogen generation, transportation, storage, applications, and the policies that govern hydrogen markets.

The Precourt Institute is seeking a full-time Program Manager responsible for facilitating interactions between companies and other organizations, and Stanford’s faculty and graduate students, working on energy research as an enabler for the global energy transformation.  This position is responsible for managing and executing activities in support of our goals.  The goals include developing meaningful new research directions, managing, and retaining current members, recruiting new members, coordinating and supporting faculty-company interactions, performing administrative functions, and supporting a comprehensive energy community at Stanford.

In achieving these goals, the Program Manager will manage and execute programs and tasks such as:

Act as a key contact internally and externally working with initiative leadership to build annual operating plans Ensuring a sustained level of engagement between faculty, grad students, and member companies Managing communications from member companies and faculty Planning events and activities ranging from large conferences to small meetings Communicating with our external and internal ecosystem via newsletters, mailing lists and social media channels Administering seed research awards; arranging graduate student recruiting events Invoicing members and tracking payments Supporting the Initiative’s educational efforts such as planning and executing the logistics for seminars, lectures, and classes Analyze and interpret policies and develop, revise and implement procedures Managing website content Providing guidance for international and US visiting scientists Formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations Collect and analyze data, create reports, review, and explain trends Organize and/or participate in outreach activities that may include communications, events, training, and/or conferences Assuring that members of our initiatives receive invitations to all appropriate Stanford events

To be successful in this position, you will need:

Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience. Demonstrated ability to prioritize own work and multi-task. Demonstrated excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and ownership of projects. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions. Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team. Relevant subject matter knowledge. Ability to direct the work of others, for jobs requiring supervision.

In addition, our preferred qualifications include:

Familiarity with the fields of energy and the environment. Event planning. Familiarity with Stanford University policies, procedures, and systems.

The expected pay range for this position is $99,015 to $126,383 per annum.

Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
