Program Manager

The USC Marshall School of Business is seeking applicants for a Program Manager within the newly-launched Financial Services Career Hub. The Program Manager will manage and support co-curricular programs for students in the areas of finance career advisement and professional and leadership development; assist with formulating and expanding program offerings in collaboration with the Finance and Business Economics Department; and establish and maintain an active outreach effort to community, corporate and alumni partners. The Program Manager will enable students, staff and faculty to enhance our efforts and career placement opportunities in prestigious and highly sought-after financial services roles, including investment banking, investment management, public and private investing, corporate finance FP&A, rotational programs, and more.

The Financial Services Career Hub at USC’s Marshall School of Business will serve as a hub for education, industry partnerships, academia-meets-industry events, and off-campus activities. The Hub aims to immerse Marshall’s highest-performing finance students in the financial services industry. The Hub enables:

Career preparation and training sessions, skill building workshops, firm information sessions, networking events, career treks and other programming to support financial services career placement.

Collaboration and coordination between finance student organizations, the Finance and Business Economics department faculty and staff, the USC and Marshall Career Centers, finance employers, and the USC alumni community.

Responsibilities and Duties

Works with the Program and Faculty Directors in actualizing the mission of the Hub. Set goals, objectives and priorities. Assist with strategy development, processes and programs to achieve goals and objectives.

Leads, oversees and facilitates co-curricular programs for students. Collaborates with career services, academic and other external and internal stakeholders to:

Coordinate on-campus activities, including workshops, training programs, case competitions, company information sessions, and industry speakers and panels.

Coordinate off campus activities, including career treks.

Collaborates with career centers and student organizations (finance- and affinity-based) to oversee and participate in the advisement of students in career issues and strategies.

Supports the Program and Faculty Directors in expanding relationships with finance corporate recruiters and other company representatives.

Supports the Program and Faculty Directors with projects aligned with strategic USC, Marshall and alumni relations priorities.

Showcases Marshall students through events, communications and other meaningful engagements.

Maintains relationships with a broad range of partners including faculty, alumni and a pool of volunteers that serve as advisory board members, mentors and speakers.

Partners effectively with USC Marshall External Relations and Development colleagues to cultivate and steward major prospective and current donors.

Supports the administration of courses, creates and/or advises in the development of curriculum, and/or coaches and mentors students.

Supports the Program and Faculty Directors in strengthening connections to key stakeholders (e.g., alumni, donors, campus recruiting network, etc.).

Supports and manages logistics and planning for Marshall Career Services Hub Advisory Board meetings.

Assists with tracking metrics that illustrate the USC Marshall Financial Services Career Hub’s support and successes in student placement and outcomes.

Manage and utilize information systems for managing records and data. Adopt best practices in using data to provide personalized services, tailor offerings, and maximize program and services effectiveness.

Support Program and Faculty Directors with administrative portfolio, including program management, program budget and program implementation.

Support Program and Faculty Directors with managing and promoting the Finance Career Services Hub and Marshall School of Business brand and reputation.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree.

Program management experience, with superior communication and leadership skills; demonstrated 5+ prior years of experience managing an academic program or similar.

Track record of success in launching programs within a university and/or campus recruiting context.

Proven experience in driving remarkable student outcomes, in terms of education and training, career placement, hiring, or similar.

Supervisory or managerial experience.

Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree; Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education

Minimum Experience: 3 years of work experience in a corporate setting or educational institution.

Minimum Field of Expertise: Proven program management experience. Ability to analyze and evaluate data, and present findings. Proven experience with budget development and control. Excellent interpersonal and written and oral communication skills, able to problem solve and lead conflict resolutions. Ability to interpret and apply policies/analyses/trends.

Anticipated Hiring Range:

The annual salary range for this position is $95,000 - $110,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Funding Restrictions

This position is funded by a gift and may be funded by a subsequent gift. Accordingly, your position is contingent upon receipt of the necessary funding from this or any subsequent gift to continue employment. In the event funding for your position changes and it becomes necessary to adjust your percentage of effort, or it becomes necessary for your employment with the University of Southern California to end, you will receive one (1) month written notification of termination.
