The person must live in the Chattanooga, TN area and must be willing to travel to Atlanta regularly. This exempt salaried staff position is supervised by the regional dean of the Morehouse School of Medicine for Chattanooga and has a dotted line reporting to the associate dean for APA. This matrix reporting position will report to the manager community benefits and diversity CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga.

The position is 0.75 FTE Morehouse School of Medicine and 0.25 FTE CHI Memorial. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, social work, or health-care related discipline.


Experience: Demonstrated 3 year experience in community outreach, public relations, human resource management or related fields. Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access as well as basic Google platforms. Ability to learn or experience working with financial management tool Preferred Qualifications Education:

Graduate degree preferred or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Job Duties

Description of Job Duty Arrange placement/rotations and clerkship schedules (i.e. orientation, night call, etc) for MD and PA students in ambulatory, inpatient, emergency room and/or sub-specialty settings following the MSM guidelines and requirements as outlined in the applicable syllabus. Initiate and maintain community engagement through communication with students, clerkship directors and/or other clerkship-related stakeholders. Initiate collaboration with community programs and/or undergraduate learning institutions to drive awareness of the More in Common Alliance (CHI Memorial /MSM partnership) within the Chattanooga and surrounding communities to promote/facilitate the pursuit of healthcare careers. Drive recruiting of students from under-represented in medicine communities to the Morehouse School of Medicine. Engage with potential donors to promote the regional medical campus (RMC) and to assist in raising philanthropic and scholarship dollars as directed. Search for external local learning opportunities/partnerships which may be required but unavailable in the CHI Memorial systems and provides stewarding support to such partnerships. Support the regional dean in his/her activities to lead the creation of the MSM campus. Once a substantial complement of students are matriculating, assists in the application to the Liaison Committee for Medical Education (LCME) for RMC recognition, providing verifiable data and RMC resource and process descriptions. Make initial contact and/or follow up on initial outreach to facilitate a robust pool of local program applicants. Make initial contact and/or follows up on initial outreach to facilitate a robust pool of local physician/PA preceptors Attend and participate in existing pathway programs to drive interest in the CHI Memorial/MSM partnership and regional medical campus; works to create new relationships and partnerships to advance RMC development. Manage student relations and negotiations for housing/transportation contracts; understands and assures compliance with all program strategic and operational goals. Serve as central point of contact/liaison for student issues, problems and/or concerns; handles numerous and frequent student communications to mitigate issues and barriers; troubleshoots issues/questions; works with unit leadership to resolve quality/compliance issues within scope of position; escalates to higher level authority as necessary. Monitor/oversee program budget/current status; complete/track budget change forms, expense request forms; maintains records and files of budget expenditure information, supplies, student data, office activities and employee leave and time data. Lead students through program orientation and oversee the student onboarding process; verifies student credentials and other eligibility criteria (e.g. immunization, drug screen and background checks) in accordance with established guidelines; Participate in the active recruitment of preceptors for each of the core clerkships; serve as a preceptor resource and support them in the completion of educational deliverables for MSM; maintain detailed records on students, rotation, evaluation and program satisfaction. Lead and nurture relationships with preceptors and outside partnerships to foster a rich student experience. Work with CHI Memorial stakeholders in regard to approved preceptor compensation; verify timesheets, invoice accuracy and budgetary compliance. Develop and implement standardized processes for all related medical education functions as well as other program elements, such as safety protocols, housing access, onboarding, exit processes, etc. Lead and manage the process for procuring and updating affiliation agreements and letters of agreement for clerkship clinical sites; maintains the currency of all agreements utilizing the AAMC Uniform Affiliation standard form and in compliance with LCME agreement storage requirements; maintains current knowledge of LCME standards and elements to facilitate continued accreditation. Keep abreast of organizational initiatives/changes with potential to impact existing agreements; monitors impact and identifies/implements effective response/solutions while maintaining acceptable service levels. Organize and promote related CHI Memorial community outreach programs on a broad scale across the CHI Memorial catchment area. Perform related duties as required. Immunization Requirements It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
