Summary
The Program Manager of the Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Program at the Trinity Muskegon is responsible for all aspects of patient care for the inpatient rehabilitation program. The manager is expected to achieve and maintain an effective and harmonious multidisciplinary team of professionals through collaboration, leadership, and management. The manager participates in leadership activities within Mary Free Bed and Mercy Health Partners.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Clinical Knowledge – Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field of rehabilitation. Maintains external contacts and peer relationships with colleagues outside of Mary Free Bed. Fiscal Responsibility – Participates in the development of productivity goals for the program. Monitors and assures achievement of these productivity targets by staff. Provides director with data for budget development, when requested. Staff Selection and Performance Management – Selects, hires, orients, and trains new staff. Supervises day to day activities of clinical staff. Supervises coverage service employees hired by the program. Provides regular feedback to employees regarding their performance. Develops performance goals and appropriate methods of measuring progress. Conducts performance evaluations. Staff Development and Mentoring – Responsible for the orientation and education of new staff, as well as ongoing staff development and mentoring of existing staff. Encourages staff development through formal and informal learning opportunities and using competency-based education systems. Quality Improvement – Contributes by identifying problems and seeking solutions. Promotes patient/family satisfaction where possible; participates in departmental efforts to monitor and report customer service. Professional Work Environment – Encourages a culture of personal accountability, solution seeking behavior, mutual respect, open communication, openness to change, enthusiasm, and pride. Interdepartmental and Interdisciplinary Collaboration – Promotes collaboration with other disciplines, departments, and institutions. Maintains effective working relationships with program medical directors and admitting physicians. Leads or participates in meetings with therapy staff, nursing staff, program staff, and program directors. Program Development and Marketing – Participates in the development of policies, procedures, and protocols for clinical issues and program development as assigned by the director. Participates in planning and implementation of marketing activities and maintains effective working relationships with all referral sources. Leads or coordinates special projects or community events. Regulatory and PPS Compliance – Maintains responsibility for the Prospective Payment System, including record collection and timely transmittal. Assures process are in place to comply with regulatory documentation requirements of CMS and other payers. Implements processes to accurately capture functional documentation, comorbidities, and other applicable aspects of documentation to assure compliance and revenue optimization. Works collaboratively with the Manager of Regulatory and PPS compliance for the MFB system, as well as the HIM/Coding team from Trinity Health, when applicable. Essential Job Qualifications
Bachelors degree in allied health area, Masters Degree preferred A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience and direct supervision of clinical staff Accurate decision-making and strong leadership skills Information management skills and ability to interpret, communicate, and present data. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills Time management and organizational skills Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in conjunction with a team of professionals for problem solving.
