Program Manager - Institute for Implementation Science

We are looking for a Full-Time Program Manager to join the Institute for Implementation Science as part of the UTHealth School of Public Health in Houston, TX. In this position, you will be able to help with the research program's overall project management and development. You'll work with the project personnel and develop, plan, and manage all activities of the assigned projects: develop project documents, set timelines, monitor progress, address challenges, delegate tasks, guide lead coordinators, manage the research team, explore funding opportunities, assist with grant applications, prepare for audits and write reports. You will also supervise the research coordinators and research assistants of the assigned projects.

Position Summary:

The Program Manager position in the Institute for Implementation Science will manage 2-3 research projects. Research projects within the Institute aim to accelerate the use of evidence-based interventions by successfully implementing them into routine practice and studying the implementation strategies. The Program Manager in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and Co-Investigators will develop, plan and manage all activities of the assigned projects. They will function in a leadership capacity in the program. The Program Manager will oversee research staff, including direct supervision of research coordinators and research assistants.

Position Key Accountabilities:

Oversees all aspects of the program activities. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors project progress. Develops, implements, and manages policies and procedures May manage/maintain annual budget, negotiate service contracts, report on progress and/or authorize expenditures. Informs upper management of key activities and makes periodic progress reports. Works closely with internal departments regarding strategy and collaborative opportunities. May assist in the preparation of progress reports and grant proposals to both private foundations and governmental agencies. Interacts with representatives from state, federal, and private agencies regarding proposals and funded projects. Working in conjunction with Public Affairs, may create and edit various communications materials for the department/program, which may include printed materials, web site content and/or department newsletters. Communicates with community and professionals to share objectives and outcomes. Prepares/makes oral presentations at professional meetings. May manage Human Resources activities for direct report in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and terminating, training and development, performance evaluations, and salary planning. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education. Master's Degree preferred. 

Minimum Experience:

Five (5) years of applicable experience. Previous behavioral, clinical, and quantitative research experience is preferred.  Grant management experience (pre and post-award) preferred.  IRB experience - Check exempt status and submit study applications, protocol, and consent submissions. Personnel management - recruitment, hiring, orientation, onboarding, performance evaluation International collaboration experience - working with foreign research team

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
