The Position
Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
This is a Program Officer 1 position with the Department of Business and Industry, Real Estate Division in Las Vegas. The incumbent is responsible for learning and maintaining an acceptable working knowledge of Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Code. Reviewing Intervention Affidavits complaints and identify potential violations of law based on established criteria and requirements. The incumbent will be investigating allegations and obtaining substantive documentation to support the Division's findings, drafting a working Resolution Report and determining the best course of action for disposition. This may include a conference, closure determination letter, or a referral recommendation. The incumbent may be required to act as a neutral third party to help resolve any conflict/dispute by facilitating communication and negotiations in accordance with the law and/or governing documents. The incumbent will interact with unit owners, board members, community managers, and attorneys, in addition to any other stakeholders that may impact the case. Additionally, the incumbent is required to address walk-in constituents, answer routine information questions and return all calls received. The incumbent will also assist in the business processes for the Ombudsman's office. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of para-professional program support experience equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service which required the application of State and/or federal laws, policy and procedures; reviewing documents prepared by others for program compliance determinations; or preparing reports which summarize financial and statistical information; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI fingerprint based background check is required as a condition of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
