Program Officer
Description A non-profit in Beverly Hills is hiring a Program Officer to cover a leave of absence. This position will last 3-4 months and will require onsite work in Beverly Hills. As the Program Officer, you will engage in a broad range of activities related to The Foundation’s own grantmaking and donor communication. This involves, but is not limited to, administration of grant programs; vetting of nonprofit organizations; technical assistance to existing and potential grantees; tracking and evaluation of grantee performance; program-related research; assisting clients with their giving; and contributing to educational activities, events and marketing of the Center. This position reports to the Vice President, Center for Designed Philanthropy. Responsibilities: manage all administrative steps and stages of the grant life-cycle for multiple grant programs and client portfolios. Grantmaking + Interface with nonprofits on behalf of The Foundation and its clients throughout the application process + Conduct research on organizations applying for grants + Provide information and technical assistance as appropriate to applicants/grantees + Review and evaluate grantee applications and reports and produce detailed materials for committee and Board review + Conduct due diligence including monitoring applicant and grantee financial information to support feasibility of program implementation and organizational sustainability + Develop and implement grant applications and reporting documents in The Foundation’s grants management system + Produce content in collaboration with the Marketing team to publicize grant opportunities, awarded grants, and grantees’ achievements + Assist with community needs assessments, research, development of criteria and strategy that will help inform development and improvement of grant programs Client Services + Respond to donor requests for information + Research, generate and follow through on funding opportunities and other client centered requests including vetting of organizations, engaging family members in philanthropy, and helping individuals and families develop strategic giving plans + Draft and produce meeting materials for grantmaking meetings, including grant request overviews, application and report summaries, and grant history reports + Prepare and maintain procedural manuals for each client’s grant program and/or family process Special Projects (as assigned) + Conduct ongoing research on current trends in philanthropy + Collaborate with staff in the development of educational programs and salons + Represent the Foundation at gatherings with other grant makers The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years of experience in public, nonprofit, civic or social sectors - a minimum of 3 years of experience in grantmaking for a foundation preferred. Previous experience synthesizing large amounts of information and the ability to execute on strategies. - Experience working with philanthropic individuals and families a plus. - Comfortable utilizing client and grantmaking databases (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, GrantedGE, SmartSimple) Skills: - Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills with the proven ability to manage. Hours are Monday – Friday 8:30-5:30PM. Pay is based on experiene, between $35-40/hr. Requirements • Proficient in answering inbound calls and handling inquiries with detail orientation • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to build relationships and resolve issues • Demonstrated experience in data entry, ensuring accuracy and efficiency • Able to manage email correspondence, responding in a timely and detail oriented manner • Experience with both inbound and outbound calls, maintaining a high level of customer service throughout • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data management and reporting tasks • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook for email and calendar management • Skilled in using Microsoft PowerPoint to create effective presentations • Proficient in Microsoft Word for document creation and editing • Ability to schedule appointments, managing a busy calendar effectively.
