Georgetown University’s Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET) - housed within the Walsh School of Foreign Service - is a research organization focused on studying the security impacts of emerging technologies, supporting academic work in security and technology studies, and delivering nonpartisan analysis to technologists and policymakers. CSET currently focuses on artificial intelligence, advanced computing and biotechnology. We are currently accepting applications for a Program Specialist role.
Job Overview
Reporting to CSET’s Director of People and Operations, the Program Specialist will support the development and execution of CSET’s programs and initiatives while providing general administrative, organizational and project management support to ensure CSET’s operations run smoothly.
CSET Programmatic Support:
Ensuring success and increasing impact by providing logistical and administrative support for CSET’s various organizational programs and initiatives, including but not limited to:
Summer Internship Program: Supporting recruitment and outreach efforts, hiring and onboarding, and coordinating intern programming and professional development.
External Fellowships: Coordinating logistics for hosting short-term, external fellows, including liaising with home institutions, ensuring alignment, and supporting Fellow selection, onboarding, and integration.
Executive Education: Facilitating program implementation, ensuring alignment between organizational goals and participant needs, managing logistics and providing on-site support.
Georgetown Student Employees: Managing the full lifecycle of student employment; developing hiring strategies, overseeing recruitment processes, supporting current student employees, and optimizing their engagement with CSET projects and priorities.
Administrative and Operational Support:
Coordinating and developing policies, processes, and job aids
Supporting contract lifecycle management, including drafting, reviewing, and maintaining agreements with external partners, while monitoring renewals, amendments, and compliance with organizational policies.
Contributing to CSET’s operational capacity through various administrative functions, including budget management, document maintenance, and data-related tasks.
Monitoring trends and developments in AI, ML, biotechnology, and national security policy
Contributing to CSET’s organizational development, including internal working groups, seminars, and discussions; and supporting and mentoring colleagues
Upholding CSET’s mission, values and culture

Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
3 to 5 years of relevant work experience providing administrative, operational, logistical and/or project management support
1 year of experience planning and executing programs, events, and/or projects
Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to details
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Ability to carry on assigned tasks with limited need for supervision
Proficiency with office productivity tools – e.g., Google Docs/Sheets, Microsoft Office
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent problem-solving skills, and critical thinking skills
Ability to work successfully in a collaborative matrixed/multi-disciplinary environment
Motivated, enthusiastic, intellectually curious and self-driven

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$54,616.00 - $100,493.33Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
