Summary The position is established within the Research & Development Service Administrative Office at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center. The incumbent is a member of the Research & Development Service (R&D). The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the primary information resource manager for R&D Service. This position is under the direct supervision of the Administrative Officer for R&D. Responsibilities ***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Major Duties and Responsibilities: Manages various administrative and technical processes within the office and ensures that procedures are understood and followed by the research community. Coordinates office operations and processes to ensure timely and accurate processing of documents, action items, correspondence, personnel issues, and travel issues. Screens calls and visitors to the Associate Chief of Staff for Research referring those to appropriate staff members. Maintains calendar and coordinate and schedule meetings internally, and external customers. Reviews all research activities involving biological, chemical, physical, and radiation hazards for compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, and guidelines. Performs all duties as assigned. You may be required to serve a probationary period Subject to background/security investigation Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process Qualifications For GS-7: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience to perform the duties of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been gained to at least the equivalent of the next lower grade level of (GS-6) in Federal service. Specialized experience is possessing of principles and practices of health services research; assisting with the day-to-day activities of a research program; collecting and compiling data; preparing correspondence and reports; utilizing automated software (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.); and maintaining research study records. Your experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Education Additional Information Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
