Project Account Engineer – Integrated Plant and Structures

The Project Account Engineer – Integrated Plant and Structures position is focused on project and schedule management of engineering design activities, coordination of interfaces between project teams, and facilitation of engineering work planning and team staffing. Specifically, the scope of this role includes responsibility to interface with multiple engineering teams on a daily/weekly basis to coordinate required scheduled activities, develop detailed schedules for technical work execution, and support individual teams in forecasting a variety of needs (resources, sub-supplier support, design inputs from other groups) to successfully meet project milestones. The successful candidate will coordinate with engineering managers working on plant level functions, systems, components, and/or engineering analyses to establish a comprehensive coverage of coordinated schedule activities and resources to meet project demands.  The Project Account Engineer – Integrated Plant and Structures will report directly to the Senior Manager – Integrated Plant and Structures.  

 

Responsibilities 

Manage the P6 engineering schedule through interfaces with the project controls organization on behalf of the IPS group. Initiate and facilitate change process approvals for new and emerging engineering activities consistent with project scheduling standards. Align and manage breakdown of the high level engineering tasks into discretized activity schedules (subtask breakdown) for a multitude of design teams. Manage the IPS groups overall project budget, and maintain within project defined limits. Track IPS group earned value metrics, and develop processes and procedures to ensure IPS group meets project goals for earned value.   Provide weekly schedule updates to the P6 schedule for the IPS group, identify off-track activities, and work with IPS group managers to develop recovery plans as required.   Lead risk management for the IPS group, identify and collect risks from IPS group managers, and work with the project risk management team to make sure IPS risks are properly accounted for and tracked in the project risk register.   Verify and track team assignments within schedule, manage engineering resource levelization over time, and generate resource forecasting on a bi-monthly basis.  Manage detailed schedule logic tie interfaces for activities within IPS group design teams, as well as the external logic links to other design team areas outside IPS. Ensure internal and external handoffs are tracking and occur as scheduled, or notify Gather status reporting from design teams and manage updates to project reporting venues. Provide periodic status updates to key engineering leaders and identify pinch points in resource allocations and/or sequence timing. Lead detailed schedule planning effort for future design phases for the IPS group.  Lead IPS group contract management for sub-suppliers and agency contractors that support IPS group efforts.  

 

Required Qualifications and Skills  

B.S. or higher in a relevant Engineering discipline from an accredited university and 4+ years direct experience with proven nuclear systems design skills. PMP certification strongly desired. Demonstrated experience in conduct or project management of engineering activities in the nuclear field, including systems engineering and/or nuclear design process. Strong understanding of technical schedule management, including project reporting, schedule development, logic sequences and fragnets, and resource forecasting. Must have experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or equivalent project management tool Experience with Atlassian tools such as Confluence and JIRA a plus. Knowledge of NRC 10CFR50 licensing process desired but not required. Excellent communication and complexity management/organization skills. Attention to detail and aspiration for excellence. Candidate must be a self-starter and possess ability to coordinate and lead a cross-functional effort with minimal direction. Ability to handle projects that include many competing objectives and design constraints, with ability to resolve conflicts between priorities.

Job details 

Salary Range Level 12:  $163,702  - $226,844

*Typically, our employee salaries are within .90 – 1.0 of the mid-point of the posted salary band.  Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual’s qualifications and experience.  This range is specific to Washington State.
