Job Title: Project Accountant

Job Description

This role involves managing and overseeing project accounting functions, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. The Project Accountant will prepare and analyze project financial statements, ensuring their accuracy and compliance with company policies. Monitoring project costs and expenses, identifying variances, and implementing corrective actions are key aspects of this position. Collaboration with project managers to ensure financial alignment with project goals and timelines is essential.

ResponsibilitiesManage and oversee project accounting functions, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.Prepare and analyze project financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.Monitor project costs and expenses, identifying variances and implementing corrective actions.Collaborate with project managers to ensure financial alignment with project goals and timelines.Maintain and update project accounting systems.Perform regular audits and reconciliations of project accounts.Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.Support the finance team in ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting tasks.Essential Skills3-5 years of accounting experience in the construction or engineering industry.Proficiency in Deltek or Quickbooks.Knowledge of GAAP Accounting and SOX.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.Proven experience as a Project Accountant or similar role.Understanding of project accounting principles and practices.Familiarity with accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.Work Environment

This is an onsite position located in downtown Manhattan with occasional travel required to Midtown. You will have the opportunity to work on a newly acquired business line within a publicly traded company that has been established for over 50 years. The company offers commuter reimbursement.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $110000.00/yr.
