Project Accountant

We have a great opportunity for a Finance Analyst to join the Financial and Global Applications teams providing support to the overall COG IT Function.

The role will be based in Crawley with focused efforts in providing financial & business partnering for IT projects.  A key aspect of this role is to drive strong financial controls and the ability to communicate effectively with both finance and the project teams. 

The Financial and Global Applications team is responsible for understanding the IT demands, priorities and problem areas within the business teams and making sure all IT requirements are understood and

 being managed. 

They must have a good eye for detail, ability to investigating and explain when the numbers are not as expected and communicate effectively with both the finance and project teams on any risks/opportunities.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Overall finance business support on IT Application Development projects for portfolio leads and project managers, especially the larger projects called Portal, Workview, Shared Services, CMM and Sapiens where finance trackers are maintained for proactively identifying risks and opportunities and communicating with Portfolio leads, CIO and Finance. Budgets are cira $50m

 

Provide appropriate project information to be shared with Senior Management monthly on tracking of the costs and forecast, including timely and quality submission of Portal, Workview, Shared Service, CMM & Sapiens projects spend into a file so Home Office can enter details into Clarity (Project portfolio management software) for monthly IT Finance Dashboard reports and communicate updates within the monthly meetings.

 

Support and verify IT contracts (Statement of Works) against budgets, including Clarity and Peoplesoft coding to enable smooth invoice processing. Verify and process supplier invoices through internal software called Workview  and Intercompany debit notes to provide the correct project coding including correct cost centres for the projects they support while building good relationships with the vendors to challenge/query costs. Manage the process of costs in Clarity system (timesheets, 3rd party invoices, vendor costs). Manage the process on internal and external reconciliation on costs between contract, invoices, clarity. True-ups as also needed with some clarity posting based on blended rates

 

Ownership of month end financial accruals for Peoplesoft.Support Finance Manager on the monthly finance reporting (CIO) to Head Office and provide commentary on actuals and full year forecast movements

 

Support Finance Manager on the annual plan submission and own the files used to assist with planning, e.g. cost centre budgets, cap/exp, regional split recharges. Including setting up new files for each finance year. Support Finance Manager on the 5-year strategy plans for IT Application projects

 

Qualifications and Experience.

Experience Senior Finance Analyst or Experienced/Newly Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or equivalent Commercial Acumen High level of analytical ability and process analysis Strong Systems and Excel knowledge High orientation to on-time delivery Proven record of meeting tight deadlines IT Finance FP&A experience Experience of dealing effectively with people at all levels (both financial & non financial) Ideally previous experience working on business change projects.
