We are currently looking for a Project Accountant in Manhattan, New York with a background in engineering and/or construction accounting. This will include AIA progress billing experience, open book accounting procedural knowledge, experience working with state agencies on public contracts. Our Project Accountant is an integrated member of the Willdan team focused on all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes. This position will serve as liaison between the local office and the Division Finance Manager. Our ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other -related field and 3-5 years Accounting experience in the construction or engineering industry. Or a combination of experience and education. GAAP construction percent complete accounting a plus. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate success in the following skills and abilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform AR & AP duties.Relay regional accounting processes to region’s operation teams.Perform expense allocation verification, accruals, and journal entries.Assists in monthly revenue recognition, billing, and financial closing.Assists with quarterly review and annual audit.Provides Project Specific Support to Project Managers.Provide support to Project Managers so that Project Financial Information is timely and accurate.Job Requirements / Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other related field.3-5 years Accounting experience in the construction or engineering industry.Knowledge and experience in engineering and construction accounting.Proficient in MS Office Products including Outlook, Excel and Word.Be fully capable of working in teams as well as independently.Detail oriented and possess excellent organizational skills. Capable of maintaining project documentation and working on multiple activities/projects at one time.Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills required to develop and maintain client relationships.
