Project Accountant

Position Summary
The Project Accountant's primary responsibility is to support the project team regarding contract modifications, compliance, payments, reports, and any other duties related to the project. This role combines construction accounting expertise with strategic project support, reporting directly to the Senior Accountant. Accountants are expected to occasionally travel to project sites for job status review meetings. Transportation to these sites will be provided if needed.
Essential Functions
* Manage all accounting related functions for assigned projects, including cost tracking, revenue recognition, and financial reporting
* Assist project teams with any questions or needs related to the accounting department, serving as the primary financial point of contact
* Manage invoices, payments, and compliance for assigned projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
* Maintain comprehensive understanding of compliance requirements for assigned projects, including local, state, and federal regulations
* Support month-end and year-end closing processes
* Monitor and analyze project budget variances and cash flow
Core Responsibilities
* Process vendor invoices accurately and within assigned timeline, maintaining strong vendor relationships
* Process sub-contractor payments accurately and within assigned timeline, including review of payment applications
* Collect and track compliance documents, including insurance certificates, bonds, and lien waivers
* Generate and analyze reports including Payroll, A/R, Contract Status, and Job Cost
* Input and review owner billings in Timberline
* Perform job cost report modification and analysis
* Maintain all contract documents in Viewpoint Vista
* Collect and maintain all subcontractor COI's, W-9's and waivers
* Prepare bi-weekly check runs
* Report any financial risks and budget discrepancies to project manager and CFO
* Collect overdue receivables and manage collections process
* Other related duties as assigned or needed
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Construction Management, or related business field
* Minimum of 3 years construction industry accounting experience
* Proficiency in Viewpoint Vista or similar construction accounting software
* Strong understanding of construction billing procedures and compliance requirements
* Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
* Demonstrated experience with job cost reporting and analysis
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with Timberline and Textura
* CCIFP certification or progress toward certification
* Knowledge of construction contracts and change order procedures
* Experience with certified payroll requirements
* Background in design-build project delivery
