Project Accountant

**Job Overview:**
The Project Accountant uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the accounting discipline within McDermott. They will act as integral team member within the Project accounting team that impacts a range of customers, operational, project, or service activities with the accounting team and other related teams and ensures that they work within the appropriate guidelines and policies.
**Key Tasks and Responsibilities:**
+ Support in the preparation and distribution of supporting invoice reports and summaries for all reimbursable project cost assisting in timely billings (billable & nonbillable)
+ Assist in analyzing hours spent on multiple projects, labor corrections, electronic timesheet reconciliation etc. to identify trends, patterns, and discrepancies.
+ Responsible for the assigned invoicing deliverables and follow up on outstanding receivables from Project Operations functions.
+ Monitor the proper identification & follow up on claims and back charges.
+ Prior AP and Invoicing experience a plus.
+ Interface effectively with clients, business associates, peers, end users.
+ Co-ordinate with Project controls as needed
+ Prepare and process journal entries as needed.
+ Provide timely and effectively communicated responses to internal and external inquiries.
+ Run monthly system reports and review for issues.
+ Perform ad-hoc assignments on special request as needed.
+ Home office position. Some domestic business travel may be required.
+ If required may provide assistance to other Project Accountants with heavy workload if required.
**Essential Qualifications and Education:**
+ 4 Year Accounting Bachelor’s degree
+ 3-5 years relevant accounting experience in a large company environment
+ Intermediate to Advanced Excel User (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Sumifs etc.)
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to apply critical thinking for independent problem solving
+ Practical and flexible attitude with independent judgment
+ Must be detail-oriented, a team player, and able to effectively work to strict deadlines
+ Must be computer literate with working knowledge of finance and accounting system
+ Ability to work in a multi-office, multi-cultural, multi-regulatory project execution environment
+ Good verbal and written communication skills required
+ Good social skills and ability to handle conflict situations
+ Flexibility to Work from Home and Work from Houston Office.
+ Knowledge of ERP accounting software (JD Edwards or Oracle Cloud software a plus)
