Project Accountant (Hybrid)
Job Title: Project AccountantJob Description We are seeking a Project Accountant with strong experience in accounting and finance to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and financial analysis. Responsibilities + Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable aging to the general ledger. + Monitor, analyze, and reconcile prepaid expenses, miscellaneous receivables, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts. + Oversee and process aspects of payroll in partnership with the accounting team for 200+ employees across multiple states. + Process billing based on local government projects. + Work with project managers on financial matters. + Prepare and post journal entries as needed. + Assist management in tracking and forecasting expense activity on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis. + Support operations personnel with daily, weekly, and monthly metric calculations. + Assist in monthly closing, annual budgets, audits, and system implementations. + Receive customer payments via credit card or electronic check. + Investigate and resolve discrepancies in payments or accounts. + Own the accounting process and push for continuous improvement within the team. Essential Skills + 4+ years of accounting experience (cost, project, or staff). + Experience working with Deltek. + Strong tenure in previous roles. + Accounting Degree preferred. + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. + Preferable industry experience in engineering, construction, architecture, or design. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. + Excellent problem-solving skills. + Self-starter who is willing to explore, learn, and figure things out. + Proficiency with technology, preferably Deltek or other ERP systems. + Strong communication skills with both external and internal stakeholders. + Bachelor's Degree in Accounting & Finance (preferred). Work Environment The work environment is very flexible, with a hybrid schedule allowing employees to come into the office two days a week of their choosing. The office is located in the central loop, making it easily accessible via Metra, CTA, or bus. The dress code is business casual, and the atmosphere is relaxed and supportive.
