Project Accountant

POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Project Accounting Assistant for our Generation Project Controls and Support Services team in Overland Park, KS, or Boise, ID, with the opportunity to work in a hybrid workstyle setting. (Combination of home and office).

Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities

The Project Accounting Assistant (PMA) works with Project Managers on the financial management of projects. The ideal candidate has basic accounting knowledge and interacts with key members of the project teams. The PMA manages the project's financial side, including the proposal/budget, project initiation, expenditure tracking, invoicing, financial status reports, management of unbilled costs, purchase requisitions, percent complete updates, accounts receivable, etc.  The PMA will also work with Project Managers on contracts, subcontracts, and change order documents. 

Decision-making skills, ability to work in a team environment, follow directions, attention to detail, and exercise good judgment are required to successfully handle these responsibilities. The individual should be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines, have a client service attitude, as well as strong organization, communication, and document coordination skills.

Works within POWER’s ERP – Enterprise Resource Planning (Proposal/budget, project initiation, expenditure tracking, invoicing, status reports, management of unbilled costs, purchase requisitions, percent complete updates, accounts receivable, etc.)Prepares Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel spreadsheets, and releases emails for project informationAssists other Team members with a project deliverable if/when neededAssists with subcontractor/vendor process Acts as a liaison between POWER and clients as requiredMaintains project folders and ensures document/record transfer information into ProjectWise Attends project meetings (internal or with the client) at the Project Manager’s discretionRequired Education/ExperienceOne (1) to Three (3) years of applicable experienceSolid organization skills including quality, attention to detail, and multi-tasking skills.Strong communication and writing skills.Must be Self-motivated with a proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team within a fast-paced environmentStrong knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Word, and Excel is requiredDetailed knowledge of project contracts and change order documents is preferredMicrosoft Dynamics experience is preferred
