As a Project Architect, you will primarily be working out of the office in Midtown Manhattan and on occasion travel to customer sites for their data center construction projects as you will be the Company's Lead on data center design projects and will direct all internal designers - Architects and Engineers for the design team. The Project Architect will function in a team lead capacity, while working on multiple, challenging projects. The PA will lead all aspects of the project: design and communicate with the design team and the onsite construction team partners with: change orders, new requirements, assist with construction administration, respond to RFI's, RFP's, etc. Candidate will lead with the interpretation of design requirements / design docs from the client and translate the requirements to the design team. Ideal manager will be team-oriented, motivated individual partnering with internal principals to ensure client satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the design of Data Center Projects and keep project within fee's budgetDemonstrated experience with design planning and development of design documents of data center facilitiesDevelop competitive and realistic fee structures reflecting defined scope of services for project pursuitsManage the designers, engineers and architects on the projectOversee the completion of design projects by establishing and managing project schedules to keep project on timeWork with Project Managers, Designers, Principals with the creation of conceptual designs into project documents gathered from meetings with the clientManage client's current expectations and anticipating future requests by understanding client's priorities and design preferencesCommunicate with project team regarding design and technical ideation and facilitate appropriate solutionsManage client relationship and provide leadership to staffRepresent and lead client meetings and presentationsDevelop effective and efficient project directives: outlines, projections, schedules, and strategies over the course of the projectWilling to work on aggressive deadlines when neededLead the coordination of internal and external customers and stakeholders to achieve a cohesive and collaborative project teamIdentify solutions and effectively resolve technical challengesKnow and apply appropriate industry standards, construction practicesResponsible and oversees the identification, documentation of regulatory agencies’ requirements, as well as recognizing and resolving code-related design issuesOversee (QA) quality assurance processes and (QC) quality control of project documentsDemonstrate, communicate, share, and appropriately apply, new methodologies, practices, codes, and products; stay abreast of and appropriately apply, new methodologies, practices, codes, and productsMotivate project team to seek innovation in design solutions in an ongoing spirit of curiosity, continuous improvement, and increased project performance in order to meet project goalsFocus on the architectural layout of the entire site including the building infrastructure including power, cooling, ventilation, redundancy and securityApply sustainable design concepts when there is an ROI that can be applied to designAttend local and national professional organization events to actively explore and recognize new business opportunities such as 7x24, DICE BisNow, DCD, AFCOM, PTC, etc.Qualifications:
Registered Architect (RA)Bachelor's Degree in ArchitectureProfessional, NAAB accredited degree in Architecture or equivalentActive involvement in the AIA is a plus7-17+ years of experience as a Project Architect (this could vary)5-10+ years of managing a design team on large-scale projectsCritical Facilities / Data Center projects a Huge Plus (will not consider if work is 100% residential)Solid acumen with understanding how data centers are built with the ability to apply this knowledge to support both project design and budgetPossess a technical proficiency of how a drawing set is createdProficient in the use of REVIT (a must) / Advanced Revit skills3D/BIM modeling and CAD computer modeling and rendering software a plusStrengths in master planning, conceptual design, and technical excellenceExperience with managing overall project fees and schedulesPrevious experience with coordinating project deliverables and managing client expectationsWork and communicate with internal / external customer and clients effectively is a mustPrevious experience coordinating and leading project teamsLead collaboration in a diverse project team environmentExperience with design documentation, performing construction administration, and consultant coordination are requiredExperience managing a variety of consultants and contractorsAbility to visit client facilities throughout the US when need arises - you will be primarily working in house at the officeSelf Starter, self motivatedMultitasker with the ability to juggle multiple priorities is essentialAttention to detail and analytical skills with a high commitment to QA/QCExcellent communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal (this role requires heavy amount of writing, documentation, and client interaction)Marketing experienceSubmittal Instructions:
