Your Role
As a Gensler Project Architect / Project Manager, your job is to combine creativity and technical knowledge to help guide our clients, with a particular focus in the life science typology. You have experience in the design and execution of both commercial and institutional developments and have developed communication and team-building skills which have prepared you to execute and manage both architectural and interiors projects, from concept through construction. In this role, you will develop your existing strengths in design and technical coordination while also beginning to directly manage client relationships, contracts, staff sharing, financial performance and team dynamics on your projects.
What You Will Do
Perform technical design assignments that include programming client needs, diagramming and modeling conceptual strategies, developing conceptual designs into technical studies, and construction documentation
Engage directly with clients in coordination with client or client stakeholders to assure approvals
Manage client, team and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with engineering and specialty consultants.
Manage schedules, budgets, staffing, and project set-up with the team, clients and consultants.
Support communication between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building and permitting officials.
Ensure that defined measures of success on each project are communicated to the team.
Actively mentor the next generation of leadership by inspiring, empowering and leading by example. You will be responsible for advancing an integrated design culture on your projects within the studio, including mentoring, resources, discourse, initiatives and recruiting of team members from diverse racial/ethnic and gender backgrounds.
Provide design support and documentation during completion and execution of design concepts
Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators
Assure a collaborative, integrated approach in working with other disciplines in the studio and office to promote innovative design strategies throughout the project’s life cycle.
Your Qualifications
Professional degree in Architecture, demonstrated with a rigorous portfolio.
Licensed Architect (US) required; California licensure preferred.
10-15 years of relevant architectural AND 5-10 years of interiors experience, with a strong background designing multiple building typologies of varying scale
Leading the team and consultants in developing and implementing sustainable design strategies, LEED accreditation preferred.
Proficiency in REVIT, MS Office, Bluebeam & Adobe (Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator)
Basic understanding of Sketch-Up, Rhino, and the digital / parametric design process.
Outstanding knowledge of building codes, standards and building structures / MEP systems.
Proficient and confident in public-speaking, and in moderating large teams of consultants, contractors, and clients
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients, and with other key constituents.
Humble curiosity, with a learner mindset and an interest in how AI can affect our design process
Excellent written, oral, and graphic communication skills
Proven experience or demonstrated commitment to mentoring or coaching junior team members
Proven experience building trust with clients and developing client relationships

**The base salary will be estimated between $110,000 - $145,000 plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience
