Your Role

As a Gensler Project Architect & Space Planner specializing in sports facilities and space planning, you will support in leading a team of architects and designers to deliver exceptional athletic venues with optimized spatial solutions. You will leverage your combined expertise in sports architecture and space planning to ensure efficient, functional, and innovative design solutions that maximize both athlete and spectator experiences.

What You Will Do

Lead the development of strategic space planning solutions for complex sports facilitiesCreate and optimize spatial layouts for diverse program requirements including training areas, athlete facilities, hospitality spaces, and back-of-house operationsManage client, team and project coordination, including full documentation coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultantsDevelop detailed space programs and adjacency studies for sports facilitiesAnalyze circulation patterns and flow for athletes, spectators, media, and operations staffCoordinate with sports governing bodies and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with spatial requirements and standardsManage project lifecycle; estimating, bidding, project kick-off, weekly coordination, punch list, turnover, opening, and project close-outCreate efficient solutions for complex operational requirements within confined spacesProvide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve space planning challenges specific to sports architectureConduct and document site visits, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFI's during construction

Your Qualifications

Master's degree in ArchitectureRIBA or ARB registered ArchitectMinimum 5 years' experience in designing and delivering sports projectsDemonstrated expertise in space planning and programming for large-scale facilitiesStrong understanding of sports facility operational requirements and spatial relationshipsKnowledge of international sports governing body requirements (FIFA,UEFA, IOC, etc.)Proficiency in Revit a must, experience in space planning software advantageousExperience with the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept to deliveryKnowledge of UK building regulations, standards and building structuresUnderstanding of specialized spatial requirements for sports venues including:Athlete preparation and recovery spacesMedia and broadcast facilitiesVIP and hospitality areasSupport service spacesAbility to develop collaborative relationships across the firm, with clients, and with other key constituentsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to spatial efficiencyExperience in sustainable design practices for large-scale sports facilities
