We are hiring for a Project Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to multi-discipline design projects on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Leesburg, VA. This person will have the opportunity to lead a variety of public & private site development projects: this person will work on diverse & challenging projects while collaborating with a multi-disciplinary group of talented Engineers & Designers on projects for various clients across various markets!
This person will be expected to perform a wide range of tasks depending on their technical and organizational skills; this includes (but is not limited to) working on the design and planning for hydrologic & hydraulic modeling, stormwater planning, drainage / erosion / sediment control design, utility design, plan reviews, code review, feasibility studies, permitting, and report preparation.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage multiple projects and tasks; this includes monitoring schedules & budgets to ensure effective completion of projects as well as client satisfaction. Meet regularly with clients. Assist with the preparation of proposals for new & existing clients (including estimation of project fees). Oversee the development of Land Development Plans; this includes the preparation of engineering design drawings, technical specification, and engineering reports (from schematic design through construction). Coordinate permits through regulatory agencies for large scale, complex projects. Delegate workload to Junior Engineers & Drafters; this includes mentoring / guiding Junior Engineers to develop Stormwater Management [SWM] strategies, Utility Coordination, and Erosion & Sediment Control [E&SC] Design. Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or a related discipline). 7+ years of professional experience working in Engineering (preferably with Land Development design projects). PE license in VA (we will consider candidates who are able to successfully obtain their PE within 6 months of their start date).
Preferred Qualifications:
Management and/or Project Management experience; proven ability to manage multi-discipline projects is preferred. Experience working on brownfield (land redevelopment) as well as greenfield projects. Advanced proficiency with site design functions: site layout, grading, utility design, stormwater management, erosion control, municipal & land-use regulatory approvals, etc. Experience working with stormwater management, especially while utilizing Hydrology and Hydraulics (H&H) modeling tools. Proficiency with engineering / CADD tools; expertise with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred. Proficiency with standard office & project management software applications: Microsoft Office 365 (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook), Bluebeam Revu, etc. Proven ability to work in an energetic & challenging team environment as a collaborative Team Player, especially while maintaining the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Excellent problem-solving skills, especially when working on a variety of projects while providing solutions to difficult issues. Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
