Job Summary

The project controller is a key member of the capital project team and works directly with the project manager to ensure a project stays within budget and gets delivered to the station on time.  They help define the project's goals and objectives; create and maintain a project's budget, analyze progress reported against the work schedules; and recommend actions to improve progress and stay on time and within authorized funding. 

Job Responsibilities

•Partner with Project Managers in developing activity-based work breakdown structures (WBS) as well as monthly capital project forecasts. 
•Coordinate with Project Managers on a routine basis to monitor costs, project future expenditures, identify impacts to forecasts, analyze variances, and maintain project in-service dates.
•Coordinate month-end, quarterly, and year-end financial close for capital nuclear projects. 
•Maintain project costs within authorized funding and process funding change documents when required.
•Investigate and reconcile purchase orders and invoices to proper accounting / cost management guidelines, budgets and forecasts.
•Maintain cost and budget account integrity through appropriate and timely journal entries, corrections, and adjustments. Prepare and process accruals with supporting documentation.
•Ensure document control so that a project's team members have all the right information needed in the electronic project files. 
•Prepare monthly Project Status Reports (PSR).  Ensure that the reported information agrees with the database of record. Analyze and communicate project actual costs, variances to plan, risks, opportunities, and 6 month look-ahead.
•During outage periods (fall and spring), maintain Daily Outage Cost Reports (DOCR).for specific capital projects.
•Assist Project Managers in maintaining project controls related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
•Think critically and problem solve to handle daily challenges that arise.
•Interface with local Finance personnel on corporate reporting, project authorization, capital determinations, and other financial issues.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required

BA/BS Degree in related field, in lieu of a degree Five years direct work experience in the field of Finance (and the following). Five years accounting, finance, budgeting and/or cost analysis/control experience.    Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and other software programs associated with financial controls. Must meet and maintain Nuclear's requirements for unescorted site access.
