We are hiring a Project Controls Analyst to join our team in Fort McMurray! Reporting to the project controls manager, you will provide support for all phases of the Turnaround lifecycle including, but not limited to, project set-up, estimating, funding, performance analysis and close-out. You will be a key member of the core team whose primary objective will be to constructively influence the schedule and cost outcomes for the Turnaround on which they are working. The successful candidate will need to think critically, work independently, and provide timely and accurate information so that team members can make critical decisions quickly.Minimum Requirements:
Degree or diploma in financial accounting or related technical or business function
Five or more years of experience managing project financials, including month end, quarter end, and year-end reporting, and stewardship
Exceptional skills in Microsoft office and SAP, SAP Project System
American Association of Cost Engineering (AACE) certification or completed courses towards certification is preferred
Strong collaboration skills that enable you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
Identify and solve problems using a diversity of standard methods, demonstrating judgement in selecting, classifying, and analyzing data from different sources
Committed to excellent customer service to a dynamic group of internal and external partners
Key Accountabilities:
Build and maintain the project work breakdown structures, and the project network and activities in SAP
Build purchase requests with required backup, vendor quotes, and in alignment with supply chain management standards
Enter forecast into SAP by assigned deadline
Prepare and submit month end journal entries to align with finance standards and timelines
Prepare, consolidate and analyze individual project or program reports for all stakeholders
Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all finance policies, ensuring that spending is in line with capital and/or expense guidelines
Drive the closure of purchase orders, the financial close, the asset listing for Finance, and the SAP closure for the project
Protect the integrity of the investment decision by understanding the project scope and bring forward deviations
Support in building the long-range plans and budgets to develop a full understanding of the planned spending
Provide detailed reporting on funding progress, trending and forecasting

This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Base Plant site or Syncrude Mildred Lake site in Fort McMurray, Alberta
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
