Job Title: Project Cost Accountant

Position Overview:
Growing Engineering company is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Cost Accountant to support a semiconductor facility project located in Columbus, OH. This role is pivotal in collecting, verifying, and documenting cost evidence to ensure compliance with accounting principles, contract requirements, and internal controls, all within the framework of a cost-reimbursable agreement. The Project Cost Accountant will report to the Project Manager and work closely with the Cost Engineering Analyst to ensure accurate and comprehensive cost documentation. A key responsibility will also include managing and maintaining the Cost Evidence folders in BIM 360, the central document repository, as well as providing monthly updates on the status of cost documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Documentation and Compliance Collect, verify, and document all project-related expenditures to ensure alignment with accounting principles and contract requirements. Ensure compliance with cost-reimbursable contract terms and Intel's documentation standards for cost evidence. Coordination and Collaboration Serve as the primary point of contact for cost documentation Collaborate with Cost Engineering Analyst to review cost evidence, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions. Facilitate monthly meetings with team to discuss cost documentation and ensure full alignment with project requirements. Data Management and Reporting Manage and maintain the Monthly Project Cost Report, ensuring it is up-to-date and accurate. Oversee and update the Monthly Advanced Rolling Cashflow Forecast, incorporating changes from change orders and cost data. Ensure alignment between the Monthly Advanced Rolling Cashflow Forecast and monthly invoicing submissions. Maintain consistency in reporting across Budget, Change Orders, Billing, and Cost Evidence. Ensure all cost documentation is accurately uploaded and organized in BIM 360 Prepare a comprehensive Cost Evidence to Date report, identifying verified costs, outstanding documentation, and strategies for closing gaps. Cadence Control Manage and track the monthly accounting calendar for the project team. Oversee subcontractor billings, ensuring submissions are timely for accurate cost reporting. Process Improvement Continuously assess and refine accounting processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. Provide input to the project controls team on improvements to internal cost management practices. Audit Support Assist stakeholders with timely, complete, and accurate cost evidence to support internal and external audits. Respond to inquiries related to cost documentation and ensure alignment with compliance standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
Experience At least 5 years of experience in cost forecasting, accounting, and project controlling. Proven experience managing costs for complex, MEP-intensive construction projects (direct installation experience not required). Familiarity with cost-reimbursable contracts and construction industry best practices. Experience with Accounts Payable processes and Construction Invoice Management. Strong understanding of contract terms and conditions. Familiarity with GAAP accounting principles, including revenue recognition, documentation standards, and ethics. Technical Skills Proficiency with cost management and document management tools, such as BIM 360. Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting. Familiarity with ERP systems and cost reporting software, especially SAP. Soft Skills Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across various locations. Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Certifications GAAP certification required. Additional certifications in project accounting or construction financial management are a plus Additional Requirements: Role sits onsite M-F and average work week of 50/hrs Offering $75-85/hr (exempt) depending on experience and potential per diem Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and schedules.
