Position Summary:
Working closely with the MDIIM Director and Program Manager, the Project Development Officer is part of a team tasked with developing an integrated approach to management within the Faculty. The Project Development Officer role requires versatility, as they are responsible for a wide range of duties within the MDIIM. The Project Development Officer will support the growth of MDIIM’s activities in fulfillment of its mandate. The Project Development Officer will possess the ability to liaise and manage partnerships ranging from campus stakeholder groups to external organizations such as non-profits to industry/consultancy firms. The incumbent will facilitate student support, industry outreach, and alumni relationship development. The Project Officer will be an excellent communicator in both French and English and provide input (ideas, research, text) for a variety of deliverables (e.g. program plans, research grant applications, stakeholder communications).
Primary Responsibilities:
-Work closely with faculty partners to articulate the needs of MDIIM and the Integrated Management Student Fellowship, to maintain and build donor relationships, and to find new sources of funding to support the Fellowship. Help manage the stewardship of funding received according to donor agreements.
-Develop new opportunities for the institute to act as an incubator for community projects that are interdisciplinary and connect across established silos. Develop new opportunities for the institute to act as a bridge between academia and the public sector, not-for-profit organizations, government, communities, and businesses.
- Engage with industry partners and community leaders through outreach to support the development of student-initiated impact projects designed to address the UN SDGs and establish internship opportunities to best fit IMSF students’ interests alongside market trends. Keep abreast of new trends in employment and career development. Working closely with the Project Administrator, oversee and organize key events associated with project presentations, updates, and reporting.
- Build a network of mentors. Develop relationships with potential community mentors, industry mentors, IMSF students and alumni to strengthen the IMSF alumni community and provide support to Fellows developing community projects. Maintain and develop a database of key contacts.
- Develop and implement internal and external communication plans relating to community projects. Identify and develop a policy for effective IMSF alumni engagement. Strengthen the IMSF alumni community and build alumni engagement virtually and in person.
-Provide ongoing administrative oversight and support to university-initiated community projects, from current students to Alumni. Execute customized support for tactical planning associated with project development, financial resourcing, and subject matter information.
-Be the main point of contact for intra-university stakeholder relationships, including legal, marketing and communication, financial aid and awards. Identify university-wide opportunities for collaboration with Faculty teams and help manage joint activities and events.
- Support evaluation and offer input on award and internship applications submitted to MDIIM. Working closely with the MDIIM Project Administrator, manage the preparation and dispatching of awards. Supervise and oversee summer internship projects to ensure project progression.
- Participate in MDIIM activities, industry partner collaborations and annual goals aligned with MDIIMs mission. Execute and deploy special projects based on MDIIM business objectives as required.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
Demonstrated experience in outreach, relationship development and knowledge of sectors interacting with academia. Excellent communication, planning and organizational skills. Ability to set priorities, handle several activities concurrently, and meet deadlines. Experience with MS Office applications and social media tools. Master’s level degree an asset. A self-directed team player who is eager to learn and expand skillsets. Resourceful and a service-oriented problem solver. Excellent writing skills with a passion for communication. Minimum 3 years of experience in similar or related roles. Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #4 on a scale of 0-4.
