Project Director, Ports and Marine

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Project Director - Ports and Marine who will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of port and marine projects. This role involves strategic planning, coordination, and execution of projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

This role sits in our Mobility Global Business Area. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today’s mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world’s growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.

Role accountabilities:

Responsibilities in this role will include Project Planning and Management, Team Leadership, Stakeholder Coordination, Financial Management, Compliance and Health & Safety, and Reporting & Documentation.

You will develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, oversee the execution of projects, ensuring adherence to project plans and schedules, and conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies. You will lead and manage project teams, including internal staff and external contractors, foster a collaborative and productive team environment, and provide guidance and support to team members. You will liaise with stakeholders, including government agencies, clients, and community groups, ensure effective communication and coordination among all parties involved in the project, and address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise. You will monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensure projects are completed within the allocated budget, and prepare financial reports and projections. You will ensure all projects comply with relevant laws, regulations, and standards, implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures, and conduct regular safety audits and inspections. You will also be responsible for preparing and presenting project reports to senior management and stakeholders, maintaining comprehensive project documentation, and tracking and reporting on project progress and performance metrics.

The ideal candidate will have strategic planning and organizational skills, financial acumen and budget management, and problem solving and decision making abilities. You will also have the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in addition to having strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills. 

Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Maritime Studies, or a related field Extensive experience in project management, particularly in the ports and marine sector with Ports Authorities in Canada Strong leadership and team management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proficiency in project management software and tools Knowledge of maritime regulations and safety standards

The salary range for this position is $114,590 - $212,810. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
