Our client is a leading multinational construction and engineering contractor, headquartered in the USA and operating across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East. With a global workforce of over 9,000 and an annual turnover exceeding €6 billion, they specialise in delivering high-tech projects across key sectors, including data centres, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, photovoltaics, battery plants, and specialty chemicals. They provide a full turnkey service, covering design, construction, and handover, encompassing civil, structural, and architectural (CSA) works, mechanical and electrical (MEP) systems, and commissioning.
The need now exists for an experienced Project Director who will be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and delivery of large-scale data centre and pharmaceutical projects including strategic planning, risk management, stakeholder communication, ensuring the project is delivered on time, within the budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements:
Provide leadership and direction for all phases of the project lifecycle to ensure successful delivery within agreed timelines and budgets.
Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, objectives, schedule, budget, and resource allocation ensuring alignment with organisational goals and strategic priorities.
Lead and mentor project managers, engineers, and team members to ensure high performance and collaboration across all functions fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Act as the primary point of contact for clients, partners, contractors, and key stakeholders maintaining strong relationships to ensure all project requirements are clearly understood and met.
Oversee project budgets, ensuring cost control and financial performance are in line with expectations.
Manage financial forecasting, reporting, and analysis to track project profitability.
Identify, assess, and address risks throughout the project lifecycle and implement strategies to resolve issues and minimise delays to the project schedule and budget.
Oversee contract negotiations, ensure compliance with contractual obligations, manage relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and address contractual changes, disputes, and claims effectively.
Ensure that all project activities meet or exceed quality standards and client expectations, implementing best practices in quality assurance and control throughout the project lifecycle.
Promote and enforce a strong safety culture within the project team ensuring all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations, minimising risks to personnel and the environment.
Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including status reports, risk registers, and financial performance data providing regular updates and reports to the Business Unit Director.
Ensure smooth project handover, including final inspections, testing, and commissioning ensuring that all contractual obligations are fulfilled before project closeout.
10+ years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years as a Project Director managing complex projects with notable background in data centre and pharmaceutical projects.
Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams with strong interpersonal, communication skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve project goals.
In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies, construction processes, and engineering principles.
Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues and mitigate risks effectively.
