Project Director - Hospital Operations
Location: Overland Park, KS
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Travel: Yes, up to 10%
Job Summary: The Project Services Project Director will oversee hospital operational projects spanning strategic growth initiatives, performance improvement, service line enhancement, and market expansion efforts. This role requires strong program and project management skills to ensure the development and execution of all project controls, aligning with business objectives. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with executives, team members, and other stakeholders while maintaining exceptional leadership skills to guide complex, multi-faceted projects to successful outcomes. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining project charters, risk management plans, and strategic roadmaps while ensuring measurable delivery against divisional priorities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Lead cross-functional project teams to achieve goals across diverse initiatives, including hospital operational improvements and strategic growth efforts.
+ Develop documentation such as project charters, education and communication plans, and implementation toolkits.
+ Communicate project deliverables to healthcare stakeholders at corporate, facility, and division levels.
+ Establish compliance with project control minimum standards, proactively managing risks, issues, deliverables, and changes.
+ Supervise and mentor other project management staff members to ensure high-quality project outcomes and staff development in project management methodologies.
+ Actively engage in business case development for projects and programs.
+ Ensure projects comply with quality assurance and audit standards to meet organizational goals.
+ Serve as a single point of accountability for large-scale technology development and implementation initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Expert in project management, leveraging project controls to manage scope, schedules, and tasks effectively.
+ Ability to identify and manage risks, ensuring timely and successful project completion.
+ Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities to prioritize highly complex initiatives.
+ Proficient in building and leading high-performing teams that deliver exceptional results.
+ Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Project Management platforms such as Microsoft Project or Planner.
+ Familiarity with change management and risk assessment processes to navigate evolving work environments.
Education & Certifications:
+ Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or related field. Equivalent experience of 7-10 years may substitute. \
+ Preferred: Master’s Degree.
+ Certifications: PMP (Preferred); Lean/Six Sigma (a plus, but not required).
+ Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, ideally across healthcare or hospital operational projects.
+ Minimum of 5 years in a leadership/management role, preferably in the healthcare revenue cycle or hospital systems.
+ Proven history of successfully leading large enterprise-scale projects or programs.
Physical Demands: Must be able to sit for prolonged periods and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. This role involves typical office-based work, though some flexibility and availability may be required in response to disaster or emergency situations.
