Jhpiego seeks a Project Driver for the anticipated USAID Gambia Malaria Elimination Activity (GMEA). GMEA, a five-year, $13 million project, will provide support to the Gambia Ministry of Health (MoH) through the National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) to accelerate progress towards achieving malaria elimination in The Gambia. The GMEA Activity will provide implementation support and technical assistance on malaria case-based surveillance and response for elimination, support enhanced cross-border collaboration between The Gambia and Senegal particularly focused on data sharing and coordination of interventions, and strengthen the NMCP’s capacity to coordinate, manage and sustain malaria elimination and control approaches. Additionally, GMEA will optimize delivery of malaria services through community-based approaches to address remaining gaps in intervention coverage or quality for achieving elimination.
The Project Driver will work closely with the Operations and Procurement Officer at the Country Office and other field staff at the regional office respectively to ensure that vehicles are properly used and used in line with JHPIEGO’s Fleet Policy. He will also follow up and ensure that routine preventative maintenance schedules for the vehicles are strictly adhered to in a manner that will ensure reliable transportation of JHPIEGO staff, assets and other goods.
This position is contingent upon donor award and is for Gambian nationals only.
ResponsibilitiesVehicle Fleet Management.
Coordinate with Country Office Ops and Procurement Officer and make recommendations and implement measures that will safeguard the JHPIEGO’s vehicles and vehicle equipment to enhance efficiency and reduce the possibility of theft or damage.Ensure that vehicle requests are well attended to. Receives all requests for transportation for trips.Coordinate with Ops and Procurement Officer and ensure that all journeys and trips (no matter how short) are recorded using the Vehicle LogBook provided in each vehicle.Coordinate with Ops and Procurement Officer to ensure Maintenance of a folder of Vehicle LogBooks for audit purposes.Responsible for ensuring that JHPIEGO vehicles are always clean Responsible for using all vehicle management tools like log sheet, vehicle checklist to monitor the usage, behavior and maintenance of vehicle.Be familiar with, and ensure adherence to the policies and guidelines in the Vehicle Usage and Maintenance ManualsEnsure that all travel planning procedures are followed by staff traveling in JHPIEGO vehicles and that all the relevant forms are completed Maintain a file for all internal vehicle request formsVehicle Fleet maintenance /Repairs
Be involved in the proper diagnosis of vehicle faults and recommend repairs.Responsible for ensuring that procurement procedures /documentation are completed before vehicles are released for repairs by workshopsConstantly Monitor and provide feedback on the quality of service of outside garages used by JHPIEGOOthers
Drive JHPIEGO vehicles when requested.Other duties as assigned from time to time. Required Qualifications High school certificate or other relevant educational background combined with relevant professional experience.Minimum 3years experience working in similar position in an INGO sectorDrivers license is essentialKnowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities:
