We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will collaborate with business developers, engineers, and shop personnel to develop preliminary equipment design plans and cost estimates for new products or refurbished equipment projects. This role involves system design, component sizing, and the creation of detailed engineering drawings, as well as project management, documentation, and support during system start-ups.
ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with business developers, engineers, and shop personnel to develop preliminary equipment design plans and cost estimates for new products or refurbished equipment projects.Design systems and size components; develop piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).Work with CAD designers to produce detailed engineering drawings.Specify and procure system components in conjunction with the purchasing department.Prepare and oversee project documentation including drawings, spec sheets, O&M manuals, and validation documents.Attend and support system start-ups, including onsite operation, testing, and troubleshooting of newly installed equipment.Support sales strategy by generating technical brochures, presentations, and other supporting documents needed for new project opportunities.Essential SkillsStrong mechanical background with pumps, valves, piping, flanges, etc.Experience in developing design plans and cost estimates for new and refurbished projects, including quoting and pricing.Strong project management skills, including overseeing documentation, specifications, manuals, and onsite testing, troubleshooting, and installation of equipment.3+ years of experience working in an engineering or technical role.Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.Additional Skills & QualificationsWater treatment experience preferred but not required.Work Environment
This position is based in Graham, with work conducted within office spacing and a climate-controlled manufacturing floor. The role requires 25% travel, specifically for installations and projects, averaging 7 nights per month. Travel frequency may vary, with some periods requiring a week onsite for installation followed by extended periods without travel.
