SummaryThe Project Engineer is a key role, responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing geotechnical engineering projects. The role will work on site investigations, analyze soil, and rock properties and provide recommendations of construction projects based on their findings.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:• Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear. Body motions and movements include: bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, pulling, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and pushing.• Lifting and/or moving up to ten pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five pounds.• This job is in Florida, with exposure to intense sun, intense heat, humidity, rain, thunderstorms, and other adverse weather conditions.• Job site conditions may or may not be accessible by vehicle and can include wetlands, swamps, grasslands, and fields with uneven surfaces, sand, brush, and other natural and man-made obstacles.• This job is primarily and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and construction sites where the noise level is usually moderate to loud.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Conducting geotechnical site investigations including soil and rock sampling, borehole logging and field testing and present their findings to interdisciplinary teamsEvaluating and analyzing geological and geotechnical conditions to assess risks and opportunities for construction projectsManaging geotechnical aspects of projects, such as project execution, timelines, and milestones including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocationCoordinating with clients, contractors and regulatory agencies to ensure project requirements, objectives, and constraints are metCommunicating project status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders effectivelyConducting feasibility studies, risk assessments and implement quality assurance processes to identify potential challenges, develop mitigation strategies and ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and client expectationsCoordinating with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to procure materials and servicesPreparing technical reports and documentation detailing analysis, findings, and recommendationsFostering positive relationships with clients and stakeholders to enhance satisfaction and promote future collaborationsEnsuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and standardsStaying updated on industry trends, technologies, and innovations to enhance project delivery and efficiencyCoordinating and cooperate with lab and field departmentsPreparing cost estimates, proposals, and invoicesPerforming any other duties as assignedRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or related fieldMinimum of 3-5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, including project management and field experienceMust have at least 1-3 years of experience of geotechnical engineering in consulting industryProfessional Engineer (PE) license is preferred or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframeStrong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, ground improvement techniques, and applicable codes and standardsExcellent written and verbal communication skills for technical report writing and client interactionsAbility to analyze complex problems, propose innovative solutions, and make informed decisions under pressureAbility to work effectively in a team-oriented environment with project managers, engineers, and field techniciansValid Florida Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria) Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification). Preferred Qualifications:Advanced knowledge of regional geology and soil typesFamiliarity with environmental and regulatory considerations in geotechnical projectsProject management experience, including budget management, scheduling, and resource allocationLocation: Office, field sites, and construction environments as requiredAbility to conduct site inspections, including walking on uneven terrain and occasionally lifting field equipmentOccasional travel to project sites may be requiredWho We Are:   UES provides essential engineering services for some of the most prominent and significant projects in the nation.
