Your role and responsibilities

As a Project Engineer, you will work within the Packaging Group to manage the Engineering and support services for the integration of electrical equipment into E-Houses and non-E-House projects. This role requires meeting the established engineering objectives within approved costs and timescale limits. The candidate must have the technical experience to perform successful engineering tasks with low to medium complexity for projects involving low and medium voltage switchgear, motor control, drives, motors and various electrical equipment in E-Houses, or bundle type projects (non e-house) while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. This is a hybrid position. Successful candidates will be located in one of the following locations: Houston, TX, Mebane, NC, or Lake Mary, FL. Relocation assistance will not be provided. This role is contributing to the Electrification Distribution Solutions division in the United States.You will be mainly accountable for:•\tEvaluating, selecting, and applying standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments.•\tProviding technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities.•\tAssisting in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering projects.•\tUtilizing checklists to perform design verification according to applicable standards and engineering guidelines.

Qualifications for the role

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering plus at least 2 experience in electrical power systems required. Working knowledge of medium and or low voltage switchgear equipment and the application of such equipment in fully integrated Power Distribution Centers. Working knowledge of transformers, drives, motors, bus duct, power cables, and other electrical equipment associated with low and medium voltage power equipment.Ability to design, modify, and check control single line and three-line diagrams, and electrical schematic diagrams for control of power distribution equipment. Ability to understand and confirm designs of customer or vendor supplied electrical drawings including MV and LV control schematics, protection schemes, and metering requirements. Ability to perform, per applicable codes and standards, cable sizing, conduit fill calculations, voltage drop calculations, panel board breakers sizing and layouts. Overall working knowledge of power distribution systems from HV equipment to LV distribution equipment.Ability to travel up to 30% as neededCandidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
