Based in Windsor, CT, Triumph Systems, Electronics and Controls is a leading independent aerospace system supplier for the commercial and military helicopter and business jet markets and employs approximately 115 personnel. The Company’s key products and services include design, development, manufacture and support of highly engineered mechanical actuation and components for fixed wing and rotary commercial and military aircraft and military systems.
PositionWe are currently seeking an entry level or experienced Project Engineer to join our Project Engineering Group that is responsible for NPI development projects in our Windsor, CT facility. The primary focus at this location is the design and development of hydraulic steering motors for nose wheel landing gear. This person will demonstrate the ability to execute successful product development programs for new or modified products on schedule and within budget from concept design through production transition.
Responsibilities•Prepare component test plans, and test reports
•Provide oversight of hydraulic steering system test activities (setup and testing), supporting both on-site and off-site certification/qualification testing
•Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical/hydraulic steering systems and test equipment
•Coordinate the daily activities of the technical team in the design and development of new products.
•Ensure new product development procedures are adhered to and that recommendations for continuous improvement relative to lessons learned are communicated and incorporated into revised procedures.
•Review/monitor schedule and budget commitments relative to assigned projects and communicate risks to management.
•Identify process and product improvements (new products and legacy products) and implement changes.
•Multi-task, execute cross-functional activities, and drive projects to successfully meet key milestones.
•Foster good working relationships with customers, suppliers and internal departments.
•BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required; MS degree a plus.
•1 to 4 years of experience
•Preferred experience
•Working in Hydraulic Actuation Systems, Fuel Controls, Engine Controls, Aerospace Thermal Systems and/or similar mechanical/electrical products.
•Ability to read and understand technical specifications and drawings.
•Strong technical writing skills.
•Experience working in or leading product design & development teams, creating project plans, performing risk assessment, and generating program schedules for successful program execution.
•Familiarity with DO-160D and Mil-Std-461C or similar industry standard certification requirements
