Project Engineer

Our client, a major Oil and Gas company, is seeking a Project Engineer to join their Project Development and Execution team. This will be a 1-year contract opportunity to work in Calgary.
The Project Engineer will be responsible for ensuring safe, fit-for-purpose, and effective technical solutions on a major project. Project Development and execution combine leadership, business, technical expertise, and operational knowledge to support our multidisciplinary teams in the development, planning, and execution of large and/or complex projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure adequate focus on Front End Loading and early engagement of project contributors and stakeholders. Support large projects with the required input and decisions being made at the right points in the life of a project. Provide clear expectations to the project technical team (internal and external) and positively influence project outcomes. Ensure engineering is completed meeting the company's quality requirements, within the cost and schedule; CMT and operations are set-up for success. Ensure engineering services providers are held accountable to providing quality engineering deliverables. Value based decision making balancing corporate risk mitigation requirements and commercial drivers. Be a safety leader, proactively manage risks and safety performance on the project. Manage external service providers such as Engineering, Procurement and Construction to develop project deliverables and deliver the project.? Ability to align, motivate, and inspire the team to act in harmony and to engage and collaborate with functional stakeholders to achieve project objectives.QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate needs to be well-organized, energetic, and service-oriented with the following qualifications:
Engineering degree from accredited university and registered as a Professional Engineer in Alberta. 5 - 10 years of project engineering &/or project management experience Experience in successfully managing brownfield and greenfield facility projects ($50MM+). Demonstrate visionary and strategic thinking and consider unfamiliar approaches and solutions openly. Demonstrate creativity, adopt new ideas, and encourage innovation. Demonstrate business and financial acumen and an understanding of the value delivered by the Project. Positively and proactively manage issues and conflicts. Influence others through reason, win-win negotiations, and positive outcomes. Bring the best out of the individuals, support positive communications across the project team. Ability to exercise sound judgment, influence decision making and work collaboratively in a team environment. Creative in developing, identifying, and evaluating alternate solutions to optimize business opportunities. Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Demonstrate visible, engaged, and influential leadership at the job sites (head office and field). Demonstrated diligence and transparency in timely project reporting. Monitor the project and act to correct deviations and changes as they arise. Look ahead and plan proactively. Ability and willingness to travel to site as required by the project.
