The Project Engineer will provide quality control, documentation, reporting, and field support to Superintendents and Project Managers for geotechnical projects. These projects include foundation anchor systems, drilling, grouting, load testing, and other earth retention applications. Many projects are national and involve travel up to 2-3 weeks at a time. Compensation includes travel, lodging, and per diem. The role involves plan readings, documentation, bid submittals, RFIs, change orders, material management, and marketing. Proficiency in Microsoft technology for documentation work is required.
Responsibilities
+ Reporting and documentation for onsite construction activities for projects involving drilling, grouting, and testing of geotechnical and earth retention work.
+ Interpretation and utilization of construction plans and specifications.
+ Identify drawing interpretation problems or errors.
+ Work with projects that include various construction materials such as soil, gravel, silt, clay, sand, grout, and concrete.
+ Utilize technology such as various Microsoft programs for project reporting and documentation.
+ Run small crews performing technical work for water testing, load testing, etc.
+ Perform field quality control tests, field surveys, and coordinate with local testing companies.
+ Management of materials, inventory, and purchase orders.
+ Assist with change orders, submittals, RFIs, and other Project Management responsibilities.
Essential Skills
+ 3+ years of experience in field engineering and documentation for geotechnical, civil, or commercial construction projects.
+ 3+ years of experience with construction materials such as soil, gravel, clay, and grout.
+ 3+ years of reporting for geotechnical, construction, or civil field activities on a construction project site.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with construction material testing.
+ Experience with project submittal processes, project takeoffs, estimates.
+ Experience with projects that include reinforced concrete, rebar, concrete testing.
+ Experience with grout, augercast piling, micropiles, soil borings.
Work Environment
The role involves both office and field work. Projects are located in Florida and the Midwest, with the current project in Orlando, FL. Travel home is required every 2-3 weeks, with the company covering flights, rental vehicles, lodging, and per diem. Shared company vehicles are provided onsite. Preference is given to candidates in West Michigan who can work locally as well.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $34.00/hr.
