About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Project Engineer to play a key role in the successful delivery of major water infrastructure projects across South Australia, including pipe installation and water treatment facilities. This position will focus on applying strong engineering principles to support project execution while promoting a collaborative, high-performance environment.
In addition to working with a skilled and efficient team, the selected candidate will have continuous project exposure, facilitating the further development of technical and project management skills. The candidate will also have the opportunity to get exposure to tender bids and submissions.
Key Project Scope Includes:
Site investigations and design management Minor and major water and wastewater pipelines and ancillaries, including reticulation mains and trunk mains in brownfield environments up to DN1200 Deep excavation and open-cut installation of gravity sewer mains up to DN500, including installation of associated infrastructure Trenchless pipelaying, including horizontal directional drilling and micro tunnelling Management of complex temporary works and traffic arrangementsKey Responsibilities:
Ensure cost-effective construction methodologies and identify improvement areas. Track project finances, review costs vs. budget, and highlight margin impacts. Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and teams to resolve technical, commercial, and scheduling issues. Understand project scope and identify contractual risks and opportunities. Prepare variations, claims, and subcontract agreements. Plan procurement activities, organise labour and equipment for supervisors. Ensure materials and services meet QA requirements. Develop ITPs/ITCs, monitor quality plans, and ensure compliance. Assess risks, implement hazard controls, and support incident investigations. Promote a strong safety culture through pre-starts and toolbox talks. Review CEMP and environmental procedures before work begins. Maintain QA documentation, manage project closeout, and finalize defect claims.Qualifications & Experience:
Degree in Civil Engineering 4+ years of Project Engineering experience in the Water, utilities, or transport spaces is highly desirable. Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with people at all levels, and other stakeholders as required. Strong in using Microsoft Office software and other relevant computer applications.
