Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our team. This role is pivotal in managing heavy civil and transportation projects, ensuring that all aspects of the project are running smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have experience in project management, construction, and be proficient in tools like Excel, Word, and Primavera.

ResponsibilitiesMaintain project schedules with input from Project Superintendent and Project Manager.Update project schedules weekly and distribute minutes from scheduling meetings.Review and evaluate weekly job costs and quantities.Research suspicious job cost items and ensure appropriate corrections are made.Review time cards for accuracy, completeness, and equipment utilization.Review field receipts for proper and complete coding.Develop and update a manual tracking system for monitoring material quantities (yield).Research suspicious manual tracking entries and make necessary corrections.Develop daily cost/production reports on key items as selected by Project Manager or Division Manager.Prepare necessary correspondence.Review all project plans, specifications, and estimates to become familiar with project requirements and scope.Develop a list of special project requirements.Create and maintain a list of required submittals and obtain necessary submittal documents.Review submittal documents for conformance with project requirements and prepare documents for submittals.Maintain a log for tracking submittals.Develop a list of required permits, prepare permit applications, and obtain permits.Prepare project setup notebook and distribute to the project team.Attend project pre-planning meetings and develop detailed project construction schedules (Primavera) in cooperation with Project Manager and Project Superintendent.Develop project cash flow (revenue) reports from project schedules.Attend agency pre-construction conferences and prepare/distribute meeting minutes to the project team.Essential SkillsProficiency in Excel, Word, and Primavera.Experience in project management and construction.Ability to maintain and update project schedules.Strong understanding of job cost evaluation and correction.Accurate review of time cards and field receipts.Capability to develop and maintain manual tracking systems for material quantities.Skill in preparing detailed cost/production reports.Effective correspondence preparation.Thorough review and understanding of project plans, specifications, and estimates.Preparation and tracking of required submittals and permits.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with heavy civil and transportation projects.Strong organizational and communication skills.Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.Work Environment

The work environment is dynamic and collaborative, requiring frequent coordination with project managers, superintendents, and other team members. The role involves both office and fieldwork, attending meetings, and ensuring all project aspects are meticulously managed and documented.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
