Project Engineer II
**Project Engineer II** **Location:** Palatka, Florida Are you an experienced project engineer looking to take on high-impact work in a dynamic manufacturing environment? We’re looking for a driven **Project Engineer II** to lead and manage capital and expense projects that directly contribute to the success of our Palatka Plant, including two board lines and our Joint Compound facility. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the full lifecycle of engineering projects—from scope development through execution, commissioning, and closure. You’ll partner closely with plant leadership, contractors, and cross-functional teams to deliver results safely, on time, and within budget. This is a highly visible role with a strong blend of technical leadership, project management, and hands-on implementation, offering the opportunity to work on multiple, complex initiatives that directly impact operations, safety, and profitability. Main duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: + Organizes engineering program project requirements. + Manage projects to ensure completion within schedule and budget constraints. + Plan projects from design concepts to plant implementation, which includes scope development, appropriation requests, process hazard analysis, cost estimates, communication plans, resources planning, schedules, equipment commissioning, SOPs, pre-startup safety review, post-startup punch list, and closing report. + Manages contract and plant resources, evaluates performance, assigns work, assists in setting department objectives, and manages assigned engineering projects. + Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems. + Develops and tests components, equipment, and systems applying principles and techniques of electrical, mechanical, chemical, and/or industrial engineering. + Provides technical and administrative direction to project team members. + Ensures that department project goals are met within the stated guidelines and requirements. + Manage projects in compliance with company safety and environmental guidelines + Constantly review and implement numerous projects simultaneously. + Prioritize engineering projects for different areas of the facility. + Maintain close contact with associated engineering and business factions in other U.S. facilities. + Manage and supervise other engineers and multiple plant/capital improvement projects + Performs other duties and tasks required by business demands and as needed + CSM – Contractor Safety Management + Entering purchase requisitions, approving invoices, and tracking spending. + Accountable for project completion on time, on budget, and done safely with all necessary documentation. + Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or related area. Excellent planning, organization, leadership, presentation, decision making, analytical, and oral and written communication skills required.- + A minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience is strongly preferred. + Strong knowledge of the gypsum processing industry is a plus.
