GAF is looking for a Project Engineer to join the Project Engineering team for the manufacturing site in Mt. Vernon, IN (about 20 miles west of Evansville). This site was founded in 1973 and supports the production of high-quality asphaltic shingles and rolled roofing materials.

The Project Engineer will develop, execute, and manage assigned projects in support of plant performance goals. With application of engineering principles, the candidate will investigate and clearly define projects that optimize and improve the production capability of the plant. The role will report to the Engineering Manager of the Asphaltic Plant and partner with the team to meet company objectives.

Proactively identify engineering opportunities and apply technical expertise to develop actionable solutions.Partner with production and maintenance teams to address operational or maintenance problems. Conduct engineering analyses and follow through with project recommendations.Develop project scopes of work, create and assemble drawings, initiate purchase requisitions, manage contractor progress, and ensure successful project startup and completion.Take ownership of the assigned project from conception to completion with little supervision, applying all areas of engineering expertise to obtain a successful outcome.Develop detailed justifications for capital expenditures and communicate them both verbally and in writing at multiple levels within the organization.Work with Purchasing in the procurement of project materials and purchase order issuance to contractors.Coordinate between GAF and contractor representatives to complete projects on time and within budget.

Under This Roof, We Require

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering1+ years of experience in engineering in a manufacturing environmentA graduate with engineering co-op experience in a manufacturing environment would also meet the requirements for this position.

High volume manufacturing knowledge with engineering focus on production machinery, preferably continuous processDemonstrated knowledge of engineering fundamentals and proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suites and AutoCAD.Good communication skills: written, verbal and listening skillsGood planning and organization skills
